What are you thoughts on changing your last name? I want to have the same last name as my FH, but I've earned my degree and been published in my field under my maiden name. I'm thinking maybe hyphenating, but it seems so long.

    I want to change my name mainly so when we have kids we all have the same name, but we are in a situation where changing my name will be quite difficult since we live abroad and my passport and visa to be here will be in my maiden name. I will probably wait until we move home and depending how long that is I may never change it.

    You could always use your maiden name or a hyphenated version as your pen name, but on all of your legal documents, use only your FH name. I also have a coworker who's email signature is First (Maiden) Last.
