13 year-old girl deemed a sexual predator by judge

It seems a British judge felt that the 13 year-old girl was quite culpable in her right, just not quite as much so as the 41 year-old man with whom she was having sex.

The even more baffling one is the second case near the bottom where a judge refers to an 8 year-old as "not entirely an angel herself."

I've had this discussion in other forums and it might have been had here: at what age should a person be held responsible for their actions?

For my part, I believe that age of consent laws exist for a reason and serve a necessary purpose. I agree that there should be reasonable exceptions for relationships between say a 17 year-old and 20 year-old, but that for the most part the fact is that while there are exceptions to everything the majority of people under the age of 17 should probably not be ****ing anyone over 22 or so.

Age of consent is 16 here but there is an exemption for 14-15 year olds if they do it with each other, it sounds about right since I remember everyone starting to have sex back in 7th grade.

I wouldn't agree with a 14 year old and an 18 year old, at 18 if you have to date a 14 year old, there is probably a reason...

I'm going to put myself out there on this one. I usually keep my past to myself.

As a parent of a young teen, I am completely floored by this.

But in all honesty, when I was 13, I was having sex with 19 and 20-year olds. The legal age of consent in my state at the time was 13 (it has since been raised). So, it really leaves me in a challenging position to say that I don't believe a 13-yo should bear any responsibility in a sexual relationship with an adult.

I will say, however, that there is something severely wrong with a judicial system that sympathizes with a perpetrator who has sex with a child, regardless of that child's actions. We can't just simply say "well she was asking for it."

Color me disgusted!




I would also like to add that if my 14-yo tells me she is having sex... I will be devastated and humiliated. Fortunately, we've discussed it and I believe her when she says that she is not interested in that type of activity at this point in her life. *sigh of relief*

that said, here's my 2 cents.

some 13 year olds have sex. some don't. some are older than others. most of my friends were 13-14 when we "lost the V card". kids experiment with sex. and IF INVOLVED WITH OTHER KIDS (and yeah, sometimes 19 is as young as 13) then i think it's ok. if a couple of dumbass kids wanna see what their fun parts do together, well, that's why you teach kids about condoms when they're young.

this man was 41.

41 has NO BUSINESS messing with a CHILD.
