It's gorgeous here ... the sky is clear sapphire blue, the sun is shining, and the high today is 65. A PERFECT early fall day! I am in a great mood because of my new nightstands (that I assembled MYSELF, thank you very much! ROAR!) and bedside lamps. I hadn't planned on the lamps, but talked dh into them after our date night last night. They're super-cool! I'll take a picture later and post it for you to all ooooo and aaaaaah over.

Dennis - the permits for the chimney have been approved. The new stone is on order. I suspect it will be the first week of October before we begin any work.
Now I am trying to get them to replace the driveway! Before we moved in, the driveway crumbled and they have two big "patches" about 3x6' each. It looks hideous. They will come back after one year to put on a top coat (after settling) - but I don't like it now. The neighbors are all moving in and their driveways are pristine. So the letter writing campaign has begun.....

Grass cut, leaves picked up
Bought some stones in jewelry store, was to be set and delivered to ship; when received after we had sailed saw that stones were not what I had selected. Took to another of their stores the next day and they would not change or give a credit. Now company will not return a call and all I get is an answering machine. I don't believe they know I have a great attorney that I'll put on them first of next week.
Skip, do you have an asphalt or concrete drive?

Today is our anniversary, 44 years; have not decided what we are going to do since we just got back from cruise and tour of AK.
Lisa, we need some of that cool weather down here; could also use lots of rain, was counting on Dave and Bob but they let us down and front went north.

We met a friend at the brewery down the street then had another couple over for steaks. Might have had one too many of the 7% beers that are only on tap in the fall so it was a slow start this morning.
Adoption party for my old assistant and her wife this afternoon. They have been fostering two toddlers for about 18 months and now have fully adopted them. So exciting. It will be good to see them and some of the old gang.
Tonight we are staying at a freinds about an hour away since they live much closer to the start of the bike ride we are doing on Sunday. It's going to be a cool ride. 50s predicted for the starting time.
Need to get to Costco while the huskers are still playing to miss the crowd.

Sam - thats terrible! I'm sure the attorney will get their attention! This just grinds your gears though and adds unnecessary stress!
We have an asphalt drive. But the drive was torn up before we moved in - I don't think they let it settle enough before contractors were driving on it and ripped it in several spots. They will replace it - they just don't know they will yet. I'm a pretty assertive whiny *kitten* and usually get my way. The fact we are the FIRST house people see in our division - you'd think the builder would want this to be the best looking. Like I said - they just haven't realized they're going to rip it out and start over.
