We're having our Thanksgiving today, so I'm up and busy! Etta Mae is going to her old owner's farm to avoid the crowds of people, which make her anxious. We have 13 planned, which I know isn't much for some of you, but it fills our dining room for sure! I'm serving turkey breast, bacon/sage stuffing, my cheesy green bean casserole, mandarin/pomegranate salad, basil butter corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, and an assortment of pickles and olives. Dd22 is bringing a squash soup, butternut squash/cranberry/feta salad, and homemade mac-n-cheese. Dh's sister is bringing the desserts and whatever alcohol they want.
Oh! And I came up with a great idea last night! Every holiday, I lament the fact that, no matter how often I buy silverware, it always disappears and when I want to set a pretty table, it's all mismatched. So, last night we bought more (service for 16), and I'm going to box it up and save it for large gatherings like these, and use our 20 other mismatched designs that we've gathered through the years for everyday. I don't know why I never thought of this! Hopefully it will work! **fingers crossed**
Kelly, I tried the 35 strokes/minute ... wow! That is MUCH more intense that what I'd been doing. You're a BEAST!
Skip, more building issues? Sheesh. How frustrating!
Lou, I'll bet C is looking forward to that trip! Tell her hello from me!
Dave, that sounds like a LOT of work to change a light bulb. I'd have procrastinated it, too! The chandelier in our entryway is like that, too ... except it's about 22 feet up. I think we've only changed the bulbs once in 20 years. Luckily, it's on a dimmer and they rarely go out. They do get pretty dusty, though, but I pretend to not see.
Mary, what type of salad would you like to bring? I've got a bajillion of 'em.
Welcome home, Steph!
(((Lee)))) What do you do while you wait?
Hugs all around! Is Dennis home yet?0 -

Welcome home day for Emma's Mom/Dad! You have better bought her something nice!!!!
Acoustic date night dinner last night. Got to meet another great couple in our division who just moved in. We all stayed an hour beyond closing continuing the conversation. FUN! Today is 10yr anniversary of favorite vineyard. Meeting 4 other couples for an afternoon of sipping.
Lee/AB - good luck today!

Good Morning BBB.
Inspection revealed two issues they are checking on - a few outside window sill/trim need replacing (80- plus year old house and we have already replaced some sills) and they want have a furnace guy check the furnaces (furnaced are Lenox from 2000) - both happening before Thanksgiving. The couple loves the house and I'm pretty sure the deal will go forward but I will not rest until these hurtles are passed.
Jack ran a few laps of the perimeter of the yard - great critter smells on fresh snow - now he is on the treadmill - getting it done!
I'll pack some more boxes in between work and meetings.
As far as cold weather stuff - I'm giving away all except one suit, a couple sweaters, one pair of boots, and one coat. Kitchen and household stuff half packed. Tomorrow I'll go through boxes of old tax and other records and get them to the shredder.
Lisa - your early Thanksgiving sounds wonderful. Nice idea about the "holiday" service set.
Dennis - welcome home!
Lee - rooting for you and AB!
Bill - enjoy the winery!
Do good out there everyone.0 -
Good morning BBB friends.
Back up on the scaffold, today, to install the new light fixture in the garage. We have been in this house for more than 16 years, Lisa, and we are still on the original light bulbs in the entryway chandelier. I don't know how will change them if one burns out. We rarely use that light, as there is another fixture, at the top of the stairs that provides adequate light.
Saw the doctor, yesterday, about the bouts of coughing I have suffered for the last six months. I told her about my GRD and chronic congestion and that, while those cause coughing, this is different and I suspect it might be asthma. She examined me and parroted the same diagnosis I already made. At least I now have a referral to see a pulmonary specialist.
Your dinner sounds great, Lisa. It's been a long time since we had a Thanksgiving with that many people. This year, we are going over to DS' house. I'll bring corn pudding (a family tradition) and a pumpkin pie. DDIL is doing everything else. Makes it nice for the old folks. DS and DDIL are running in a 10K race Thanksgiving morning, too. More power to 'em.0 -
Good morning
Hope all is an easy fix Raine. Or at least a doable fix.
Glad you made it home Steph. We met 2 years ago at tow yard in Indy according to my phone.
I’m waiting to get a wrap. Supposed to be at 9. Sign still says closed. Ugh. I have a full day.
Lisa, it is a workout. Have fun tonight. We have fine china and fine silverware. Only use on special occasions like tonight and thanksgiving.
Be careful on the scaffold

Waiting to disembark in Ft. Lauderdale (Broward County). There is some concern that everyone has to count a 1,000 ballots before they can go.1

Enjoy your Thanksgiving today Lisa. I'd love to see the pomegranate salad recipe next week, you made for today, thanks!

Mornin' BBB.
Finally got to run our series this am. She did a great job and the judge said see you in the next series. Hopefully that will be this afternoon.
Lisa, while we wait to run we watch the other dogs run, practice drills, eat sandwichs and hot soup, and lots of coffee.
Man, you guys are so busy this weekend.
Sounds academic, Raine.

Have a great family day Lisa.
We have separate nice silverware. It was a wedding gift from Rind grandparents. I'm giving it to 18yo niece when we move.
Ron has a computer nerd workshop all day so I got to sleep in, laundry, groceries and now packing the car to go to Dad's on Wednesday. I'm taking all of my scrapbooks and some other things we don't want to get rid of but won't fit in the van.0 -
Good Evening,
I'm staying busier than I want, I'm suppose to be retired.
Subbed 3 days at school this week, turned down two assignments then worked WW this morning with them asking me if I would work meetings on Mondays and Tuesdays as 2019 rolls out.
Great news Raine, I've seen Lenox units still working after 35 years; replacing window sills not bad just a pain if doing yourself.
Welcome back Dennis!!! Hope Emma got house where you are can get in front door if she got door put back on.
We are going to my brothers for Thanksgiving, requested we carry sweet potato casserole and dressing.
We never break out silver unless we have more than 20, hate cleaning silver.
WW had a good sounding warm salad featuring roasted butternut squash, greens, feta and walnuts with red wine vinaigrette.
Goooooo BABE!!!!!!
Steph, jealous; I want a sleep in day.
Enjoy the Day,
Sam I am
