Since this is the gift-giving Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanze and maybe more holidays season, here is my question of the day: What are you secretly trying to get for a significant other? That does not have to be a spouse; partner or other romantic relationship.
Humorously, Rose and I have been married almost 46 years and we don't need any more stuff...except for one thing. Rose is tired of having to use 3 different remotes to manage our Bose sound system; Tivo DVR, and Samsung TV. So, I'm getting her a universal remote and the technical help to set it up. I figured it was too far to ask @craigo3154 to come over and help her.
What about you?
Rick

Exercise - 22min run/walk, was supposed to be 40 min easy run but the flu got the best of me
Calories - yes
Tracked - yes
Well since I am my significant other I want a new sup. Ok it won't be "new"...it will be second hand, but still new to me and more suitable for what I do at sea.6 -

Exercised?: Yes. (3km in 25mins - hills)
Calories?: Yes
Tracked?: Yes
Managed to get a gap in the rain to get out and walk.
More work from home again today.
Dinner with parents tomorrow. Looking forward to it.
My parents are struggling to come to terms with my wife's lifestyle choice for food. They think it's a diet and that she will be back to what they think of as normal eating sometime soon. They do not understand that in order to repair the insulin resistance, the ultra low-carb eating style will remain for quite some time (if not forever). When at goal weight, off all medication and regular blood sugar shows normal insulin sensitivity has fully returned, THEN, her eating will likely alter to low-carb instead of ultra low-carb.
@RangerRickL. Sure I could program the universal remote. Have done a few in my time (pretty much family tech support). However a trip halfway across the globe for Christmas is not on the cards at the moment

December 12 and 13th pass days. Miscalculation got me. So now that only leaves me Christmas day so I better be on my best behavior!
Love the gift idea Rick! I'm having trouble conjuring up ideas for my family so maybe some posts will give me great ideas.5 -

Beloved & I have decided that as there is nothing either of us wants for the festive season that we will give each other the gift of time over the coming year ~ simply to be together and enjoy the simple things in life8 -

Usually, no. BUT today was cold, rainy and raw. I have eaten what I planned for today and still wanting to eat. Just turned on fire place and fixed a cup of tea. Fortunately, I'm well under calorie allowance for the day, if I decide I am actually hungry. For the moment. The tea and fire seem to be doing the job.3 -
I am super bummed that I have to take my third pass. This sore throat has moved on to become a cough and I am just drained beyond my ability to exercise. It's been a struggle just to haul myself to work. But I'm not leaving and I will continue to try every day. I did manage 2 of the 3 today.
My husband is the WORST to buy for because he doesn't need or want anything. I did buy him some new clothes just because I like to shop and I can purge his closet for things I'm tired of seeing on him. I'm going to go to the bookstore when I'm feeling better and see if I can find something he might enjoy.

Exercise? Yes...65 minutes walk in the cold tonight after doing some volunteer sorting of unused medical supplies, ultimately, shipped to under developed countries.
Calories? Within allowance.
Tracked? Yes.
At our ages, Jim and I have "enough," so Christmas shopping has not been on our list for several years.
Not sure what others would think...but it might be nice if everyone shared a favorite holiday ornament or decoration from their home for this time of year, regardless of faith, and its significance for them.4 -
Exercise:,35 mins General circuit, 32 minutes of yoga, + walking, mostly indoors as it was too cold outside. I use Leslie Sansone videos to do my indoor walking.
Calories: Way under. My Fitbit recorded 235 minutes of exercise today.
Tracked: Yes
DH actually asks for socks, shorts, shirts and jumpers for Christmas. And tools. He also loves gourmet food, so I usually buy him a selection of new things to try.5 -

I got my husband an indoor herb garden setup. He loves to use fresh herbs in cooking, and this should make it easy! It's over at our neighbors' now, waiting for me to assemble and bring home.5 -
Yes x3. Every wednesday supper to Thursday supper I fast (faith reasons) so I take Thursday as a rest day from strength training and cardio - did stretching and ab work. Calories are too far under right now but I will have a hearty snack this evening.
Hubby and I don’t really exchange gifts. We are more of a minimalist family on a missionary budget.. we don’t even buy our kids gifts! (don’t worry, the grandmas and grandpas spoil them plenty) rather we spend that money on families in need through local shelters. Our gifts to each other come more in the form of family vacations.7 -
pass #3 a little self indulgence and a little stress eating and I am over my calories by 27
exercise and tracking yes and yes6 -
Yes x 3 - I need a new word for my first 20 minutes of exercise for today though. I was hungry, angry, and walking. It was awesome - fired those glutes for sure! Hangrambulation? Then I got over both the anger and the hunger, and went out snowshoeing for 50 minutes. It had warmed up to something above 0 F by then!
Finding the right gift for my taller half is always a challenge. I went for the practical down vest to replace one he still talks about years after it fell apart. That and little silly things. And all the tags end in a word that rhymes with "hip". I don't know why, but I always make ridiculous tags. My kids, both in their 20s, bring out their best eyerolls.6 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes - 37 minutes on my mini-trampoline - unlocked the very last item for this exergame ... will start a new iteration tomorrow

Third pass day! I did over 13000 steps in a day trip for work. But I wasn't able to accurately track. I'm ok with calories hut can't prove it.
I have a knee surgery scheduled for next week, and I'll be off my feet for a few days at minimum for recovery. That hit me today and I realized I definitely won't be making the winner's bcircle for the month. So, I'm gonna be super strict with calories to compensate for sluggish movement. The end is in sight!6 -
@molly3210 best wishes for a successful surgery and quick recovery2

Pass Day #1
Well...it's been a really long tough week!!!
My hubby was talking with his brother back in July about wanting highway bars for his motorcycle...but they were about $500...so I started secretly saving and ordered them...had them sent to his brothers house so he wouldn't know...

Today was challenging; had to turn down chocolate that I wanted in order to stay within budget, and had to exercise when it was the last thing I wanted to do!6 -
Date: 12/13
Tracking: Yes.
Calories: Yes.
Exercise: Yes. Chipped away at my exercise ring all day. It only shows 20 mins, but it was definitely over an hour. I really need to get this thing recalibrated!

Another fun day!
It's the end of the year accounting and meetings, plus final tallies on the business. You cannot manage what you don't measure...sounds a lot like "Tracking".
Anyway, Calories: okay since I was under by more than 400
Exercise: I overdid the treadmill pace and the ankle and foot are swollen. I got my minutes in though
Tracking: good.6 -
Yes x3 for me! Woo!
My partner and I usually go on holiday together in January rather than giving presents. This year we can't travel so I am thinking of getting him a sunrise hot air balloon flight instead.5 -

It is always board games for our family! We always pick a joint one that we want, and sneak in extras for each other under the Christmas tree anyway This year it's Azul and some mini-expansions for Carcassonne.
@w8goal4life I can't take a picture of it atm, but my favourite item is a musical Christmas tin that I've had since childhood. It is a Christmas-themed cookie tin with a wind-up mechanism that plays carols and other traditional melodies. Mine does Holy Night. I don't know how popular those are in the US. They used to be quite common where I live, nowadays they are mostly nice nostalgic items that you can get online or in a second-hand store. Mine looks very similar to this:

Exercise - Yes - cross country run
Calories - Yes
Tracking - Yes
I am totally chuffed. I used to be quite fit but I broke my foot/ankle cross country running a couple of years ago. It has given me loads of problems and spent most of a year and a half on crutches. Last night was the first proper cross country run I've done since my accident. I am totally unfit now but just to be able to move slowly up and down some frost covered hills was fantastic. Chuffed to bits. I just need to keep careful so it doesn't happen again :-)6 -
Exercise - Yes
Calories - Unfortunately slightly over so no

Pass #2+ #3 I think?
no exercise, binged, and didnt rly track the binge
on the 12th i found out I gained 8lb for some reason (i woke up that morning super bloated and my pants barely fit and i think it was just water weight or something) and it upset me so much cuz i thought i was making progress and it was really disappointing. but instead of being logical and mindful by staying calm and not letting this affect me, i felt so defeated it seemed it didn't matter what crap I ate (i also didnt get to eat enough from 10am-8pm, so being starved and exhausted while doing groceries didn't help pass by the temptation to pick out all the junk food i want smh)
not sure where the weight gain came from but i think it was mostly water weight from a period ?? did i eat too many calories the past week on accident and didnt realize or remember?? oh bother
then on the 13th i was burnt out and depressed & guilty and there wasn't really any healthy food in the house (which is my fault for buying so many munchies) to eat so i justspent all day eating junk food & laying around. not even yoga. but we got more groceries that night and it's all my healthy stuff so i go back on track the 14th like nothing happened
I'm mailing my best friend a big package for Christmas it's my first time doing something like that in our 4-5year long friendship, but I feel like it's super important I do something so kind for her this christmas cuz I think she needs it. She's had a rough past couple of years and it seems the holidays right now are bringing her down so I just wanna give her something special and maybe she'll start to cheer up a little I'm gonna bake her some molasses-chocolate chip Blondies with a caramel-toffee topping, and I'm sending her some makeup and bath salts and snacks. I hope she loves it5 -
@harvest_bounty So very nice to have a Christmas music box since childhood. I'm sure you treasure the memories of those musical moments!1
