Basic Fitbit Question!

Hi guys! I started with the little tiny zip, went through a few, had a few others and haven’t owned a working Fitbit for a few years now, and was shocked to go shopping....because no I really don’t need to pay with my Fitbit! Lol I got a Alta HR which seemed pretty basic but haven’t opened the package yet as I’m inside. Does this replace something like a Polar HR-so if I go to the gym will it track my calories burned?

Anyone have pointers on anything else that’s pretty basic?

It's similar to a true HR-monitor strap but not exactly - potentially not as accurate on reading HR when it goes up.
Depends on the person and the arm.

Like any HRM - calories calculated from it can have good to bad accuracy potential.

Formula for HR-based calorie burn is only valid for steady-state aerobic workouts - same HR for 2-4 min.
So anything anaerobic or HR going up and down is inflated calorie burn - lifting, intervals, sprints, ect.
Those are better logged manually from the database like for Weights.

Then again, if it's inflated for 3 hrs weekly out of an otherwise active lifestyle - big whoop, more inaccuracy in food logging.
If very sedentary in daily life and those types of workouts are 6 hrs weekly - now that may me meaningful inflation and better logged as say Weights or Circuit training, ect.

Read the FAQ 1st section couple times.

Other trackers have basic models like Fitbit too.
