Morning all,
just wanted some running advice really
returning to running after ACL surgery last year and went to run this morning and had a searing pain in my knee (like someone was putting a hot needle through it). i ran 5k the same time yesterday morning but unsure as to whether its a good idea. fairly new to running so any advice would be greatly appreciated

if you're new to running then take a rest day in between running days.
Plus going from 0 to 5k each time may be too much.
start with 3 x 1.5 miles or 3 x 2 miles and build up from there.
i'd see a physio for the pain you've described.1 -
Agree with Tavistock, dont try and overdo it, even if you feel capable you have to build up to distance runs.
I get aches and pains when running but acute pain like you describe seems concerning. Try a lengthy jog and walk and see if the pain is still there. Maybe a case of trying too much too quick? otherwise physio is best shout.1 -
Cheers gents , really appreciate the advice. Going to leave it a couple of days and see if it subsides. There’s no swelling hence the concern but if it’s ok by Thursday say then I’ll maybe start one of the couch to 10K apps as I know that involves a lot of walk/run elements to it1
