Today is always a fun day to share with you...the UAC team.
Non-Scale-Victories, also known as, NSVs, are the good things that are happening in your life, even if the scale has not budged..
For me, the biggest victory is that I have spent the last 4 weeks doing the core and back strengthening exercises of Week One (that's right, I'm a very slow learner) from Dr. Jeremy James' book, Younger Next Year Back Book and his website, www.backforerver.
I've gotten much stronger and my back feels much better. I'm finally strong enough to go to Week 2.
What's going right with you???
Let's hear about your NSVs...
Thanks, Rick

Mine for this week are:
1. My husband gave me non-edible gifts for VD and I turned down M&M's
2. My pants are getting looser
3. I look forward to exercising
4. I feel better about myself12 -
NSVs:
- Clothes look better; down from XXL to size 12 (UK)
- Energy begets energy; I always get a lift when I exercise; no longer get out of breath going up stairs
- No longer stress about the normal daily fluctuations in weight, but use my daily weigh-ins a a guide to when I need to reign myself back.
- Definition of muscles improving; muscle %age increasing.
Exercise: 45 mins gym session, 45 mins intentional walking, 10 mins yoga.
Under calorie goal: Most definitely
Tracked: Yes

Yes x 3 for today!
My NSV is that yesterday for Valentine's Day my husband gave me this beautiful blouse for a gift. He was so excited to prove to me that I don't need to shop in the plus size section of a store. This came from a really nice store and was in the regular clothing section. I'm going to wear it Sunday to church with a lovely cardigan that has been hiding in my closet and now fits me perfectly too.

NSV ... I am in better physical shape at 74 than I was at 47 (and getting more fit every day )
Yes x 3 for today.10 -
NSV: 1) My posture is so much better. 2) My core muscles are stronger and hold my tummy and back in place.

Those are some great NSVs, everyone! @TeresaW1020, that's a lovely-looking blouse!
For my NSVs:
I've successfully gotten back into the habit of morning workouts, and I'm really enjoying the routine. I like starting off my day that way, and I've made time afterwards to have a mug of tea and relax before I need to head into work.
I fit back in a pair of jeans that were getting too tight before Christmas.
I've joined a group class (ballet stretch and strength) despite still not being totally comfortable with my weight.10 -
Great, inspiring NSV's!!

Good job on NSVs everyone! Mine right now is that I've held my smaller size clothes for a while now and some are loose. I took a pass day on valentine's day but the next day went straight back into good food and exercise without even a second thought!11 -

Yes x3
As for NSVs, few weeks ago at my routine check up, my ldl had dropped over 40 points and hdl went up 5. I'm really happy about that and it helped to keep me motivated to not fall back into bad habits. More recently, I'm finding that thru yoga I am becoming physically stronger. I am able to hold poses for longer with less trouble.9 -

@BonnieHosk85 "My husband gave me non-edible gifts for VD." So very motivating when our spouses don't try to sabotage our efforts for better nutrition and exercise.
@TerriRichardson112 Such wonderful accomplishments for you.
@TeresaW1020 Lovely gesture from your husband recognizing the new you.
@jan110144 You are an inspiration for all seniors on this forum. It is evident you are in control of you...and that is exactly how it should be.
@fitphoenix Great attitude toward morning workouts and group class.
As for myself...
Exercise? Yes, 30 minutes low impact aerobics/hiking on the South Kaibab Trail Grand Canyon National Park video. This video will keep me busy for another 3 days in half hour segments as it is a 2 hour hiking video. The scenery is delightful. Another 20 minutes washing the van since it was above freezing for at least part of the day today.
Calories? Within allowance
Tracked? Yes
NSV Today marked a 130 day streak of signing in and reporting on MFP's UAC. My other NSV is holding steady in maintenance at the low end of my BMI.11 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes. 15 minutes on the elliptical and then Workout A of Stronglifts 5x5. A really solid weight session today, I'm pleased.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? I think so, but we had Chinese and although I did my best to accurately log everything I ate, it's impossible to know how accurate any of the listings really are. So for that reason I'm using Pass 2 of 3 today, since I really can't be sure.
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes! Even though I'm not really sure on the given calorie counts for everything, I did log each item and was able to get fairly accurate weights/measures on everything.
My NSV -
- new PR on Barbell Bench press today
- my winter coat that was visibly too tight and gaped when buttoned a month ago. It buttoned up fine today.
- I take a gym selfie on the 15th of each month (well I have for the past two months, lol) and I could see visible fat loss from one month ago, very encouraging.
- Despite ordering in Chinese AND it being a Friday, I planned what I would eat to fit my calories, stopped eating when I was full, and just generally treated the food like it was any other meal - that is, planned it logged it, made smart choices about the food but left room to enjoy things like an eggroll and a crab rangoon, too.

I love the mid-month NSVs. Great job everyone. So good to see so many important 'victories'.3

Congrats to all on your NSV's, very inspiring!!
Mine currently are:
- down one clothing size.
- starting/learning to jog (and loving it!).
- knocked 4 minutes and 16 seconds off my Parkrun PB!!7 -
More and more of my "someday" clothes are fitting .... some of them for the first time EVER because they were a bit small when I bought them but I just loved the material; others fit once-upon-a-time, and finally fit again.
I can see and feel my hip bones.
I can manage 10 non-stop minutes of HIIT every day.
My taste buds have re-set. I can't stand the same level of salt or grease that I used to consider "normal" or "a treat".
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes - wasn't feeling great, so used slightly slower songs in my exergame playlist, but still did 53 minutes.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes

Yay NSV!
Mine is that my knee is healing breally well. This week I'm finally back to standing at my desk at work. Also, I've bbeen cleared to return to boot camp next week as long as I do upper body only. Hopefully soon I can start swimming again too. I'm so happy to get back into my workouts!! I have some making up to do, but it looks like I'll be back in swing in time for spring. Want to put a serious dent in inches, composition and weight loss this summer.
Also, it's a planned pass day #3 for me, lol8 -

So great to read all the NSV’s! Awesome job everyone!
Mine are that my clothes are fitting better and that I really look forward to my workouts. Today was a rare kid free day and I couldn’t wait to get outside for a walk. Not even the -37 temperature wasn’t going to stop me! I had the walking paths to myself (I wonder why? Haha) and the snow was sparkling and beautiful. I pulled out my phone to take a picture, but iPhone batteries are not a fan of this weather and my phone shut down as soon as I pulled it out of my pocket.
Anyways, today ended up being pass #2 after I got a craving for crunch in the evening. Headed out on family vacation tomorrow so I’ve got my calories set to maintenance and I will do my best to track while out of my kitchen. I’ve already got my snacks and lunch packed for a long road trip tomorrow.8 -
You are all just amazing!!!
Congratulations to everyone. I'm sure we will have more people reporting in...keep up your wonderful successes!
