Insurance requires 6 month waiting period

I'm just seriously starting the process and have been thinking about getting surgery for 10 years. I've met with the dietician and have all my pre-op appointments set up (cardiologist, UGI, Psych, etc). My insurance requires 6 months of nutrition meetings before surgery. I understand that all of this is so that I will be successful, but has anyone ever had this requirement reduced?

I was just asking my people the same thing. I also have to wait 6 months. I am so nervous and scared I'd like to do it tomorrow, but I have to wait til June. I have never heard of anyone getting out of the waiting period.

How's it going for you? I asked my team and there is no way of getting out of waiting. In a way, I'm kind of happy that I can't rush into it.

Are you still nervous? I met with my dietician again yesterday and for some reason started getting nervous for the first time.
