Hi Everyone:
Like many of you, I'm trying to use MFP to track food intake and hopefully shed some weight to counteract the effects of PCOS, with the goal of having a child. After trying to going off birth control and not getting a period, I went to get a check up at my ob/gyn. It was pretty clear that PCOS could be a possibility and I had a ultrasound to confirm. I have done 3 rounds of clomid (up to 150mg) with no ovulation. I decided to take the next step and go see a Reproductive Endocrinologist. I am so happy I did! I have now been on Metformin for 3 weeks and will be trying clomid again soon. I am hopeful/nervous/scared and really want a child.
I have been trying to lose weight for about a year and a half and have only lost about 10 pounds since I started. I am hoping the Metformin will help to combat the insulin resistance and move towards a healthier me.
I am reading the PCOS diet plan and learning how to do the carb counting/carb exchange. I already work out 3-4 times a week, one of which is with a trainer. As far as diet, I struggle with sweets and Mexican food (chips and dip!).
Thank you to those who post and are open about their journey. It is really helpful to hear that others are in the same place and I'm not alone.

Hi and Welcome!
I also did not find out that I had PCOS until after I went off of birth control. my issue was not however that I didn't get my period but I would get extreemly heavy periods and my cycle was about 40 days long. My Family DR put me on Metformin for about 4 months in which I lost nearly 50 pounds, and then put me on Clomid, I did two rounds of Clomid with no sucess although I'm prety sure I started to ovulate with Metformin and I am also prety sure I ovulated with the Clomid as well. I am now at a Reproductive Medicine center and I just started my first round of Clomid with them but will also be having the HCG Shot and Progestrone.
I also struggle with sweets and things like Chips and dip once I start it's very hard to stop.
I'll add you as a friend. I have alot of emotions I deal with in regards to having a baby. We have ben TTC for over a year now and I am 32 now so not old but also not young.0 -
Thank you for your reply. I hope all goes well with this round of clomid and the trigger shot! I hit the 30 mark this year and feel so ready for a child, so I can relate.
I look forward to following your story.0
