At the beginning of January I made it a goal to get 3000 steps a day. At first, I could only make 2 days of the week but I'm proud to say I've reached my goal 5 times this week!! I'm still working on 3000 steps a day but my next goal will be 5000 steps per day. I hope to reach 5000 steps a day by July. Let's hope any flare-ups are short and setbacks are minimal this year.

Did you know lower body arthritic joints benefit from 6000 steps a day?

This is just one goal of mine. What goal(s) have you set for yourself?

That’s so awesome!! Congratulations on reaching your goal this week! I’m positive you will be able to continue adding to that count each week!!

I purposely don’t set fitness goals. I strive to just do more when I can. If I push myself I end up hurting myself (always happens). So I just let my activity happen when my body says it can. Even walking too much will give me a migraine due to the neck issues. Overuse of my arms (just with laundry, and floors) will set up muscle spasms in my shoulders, upper back and neck. Even the motion of lifting weight, without any weights, hurts me for days. The many physical therapists I’ve been to have tried to help me but they all realize that the fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome I have won’t allow me to recover from pulled muscles.

So, no, I don’t set goals. I just celebrate what I do when I can do it.

I'm always adjusting my goals because I used to overdo it a lot too. If I don't make any goals, I end up not pushing myself enough so I always need something to strive for. I don't get down on myself if I can't reach a goal due to pain flaring up or fatigue taking over.
Everyone has something different that works for them. 🙂

Well done. I have the same problem with overdoing things, I set a goal and then find myself doing too much because I want to do better than my goal. I want to get moving more again but am wary of causing yet another flare up from doing too much. Maybe I need to set myself goals with limits.

It's definitely beneficial to set limits with your goals. My goal is 3000 steps a day but I know I'll be one hurtin unit if I try pushing it to 5000 steps too soon so my limit is 4500 if I'm having a particularly good day. Pushing yourself is how progress is made but I dance on the fine line of overdoing it everytime I feel "good".

That’s a really good way of thinking about it, I’ve had a habit of pushing myself too far and ending up unable to do anything for weeks so I gave up completely. Really considering trying again with this new way of thinking about it.
