    Mornin' BBB.

    Fingers crossed for you, Kelly.

C-section last night (mother and puppy doing well and went home). Good for wt management. Too tired to eat much when I got home.

Glad you are feeling better, Sam. Hope it clears up soon.

    TGIF!

Fingers crossed for the new Weimaraner!

Hopeful for a half day in office - but still playing catch up from many other projects.

Rain in the forecast for next few days - so no one on one time with the Black Beauty. Drove Jeep into DC today - I could hear its cries the entire drive.

Lou - how was your big night out?

Raine - are you a lot owner?

    Good morning.

Night out was good. Those who wander out this way with a Mexican craving should try out Frontera Grill. The tuna ceviche is awesome. As if the chocolate pecan pie.

Annual review was yesterday. Still trying to get them to understand that older folks don't fit into the mold of book-based leadership.

We went over the hot stove analogy yesterday and they were trying to explain how they counsel the kid in why they shouldn't do that and I explained how my mom swatted my hand with the spoon she was using. There's a definite difference of opinion there *sigh*

    Good morning

So glad it's the weekend !

Waiting on my computer to do some updates it's taking forever! Funny how we get accustomed to immediate gradifcation with technology. Looking back at my days of being a IBM Sys36 data processing operator in 1983, we've come a long way baby ;)

Fingers crossed for you, Kelly, on adoption news!

I may suggest a date tonite, we have a movie gift card to use. Any suggestions???

Be safe, be well, be happy!

    Good morning BBB friends.

Choir practice was cathartic, last night. Good to remember the many contributions of our member, who committed suicide last weekend.

Lou, I remember a teacher in grade school, who had a fat, heavy fountain pen he would use to whack you on the head if you were talking in class, when you were supposed to be working. It hurt, but did no lasting harm, and I remember the lesson 60 years after the fact.

    Good morning BBB Friends.
    • Mary, The Upside is a good movie.
    • I had to Bing Tuna Ceviche. Sounded interesting but I'm not excited about raw fish. I'd like to try the Frontera Grill though.
    • I am the Secretary for our Veterans Club. I need to type up the minutes for our meeting this week and I am dreading it. How do I get into these things?
    • I better get busy. Have a great day BBB.

Oh Dave so sorry to hear about your choir member. Sad indeed.
Stay warm all in this wild and crazy winter.
I too had one or two spankings as a kid and an overzealous teacher who threw chalk at me and more.
I find it refreshing that kids grow up very nicely indeed without all that. Discipline and consistent discipline is extraordinarily important but can be done very effectively without spoons, pens, or such. I was a bit of a slow learner but never really spanked my kids more than once or twice and they are doing great. It does take effort and time to parent for sure but worth it.

We almost never resorted to corporal punishment for our DS, either. I recall spanking him for walking out in the street in front of a car, when he was 2. The greatest source of discipline and good behavior is to set a good example. Kids see how their parents behave - all the time. "Do as I say, not as I do" will never work. I found the same to be true with soldiers, during my time as a noncommissioned officer.

For sure, Children learn what they live. It saddens me out in public when I see kids crying and the adult with them says, stop crying or I'll give you something to cry about.... one time at Target I got into it with an angry young lady dragging her barely walking baby by the arm yelling to hurry up and come on. She then took off her shoe and wacked that baby in the back of the head. I just lost it, starting yelling at her to pick that baby up, or put her in a cart.... she flipped and I pretty almost got my azzkicked by her, but I didn't back down, the child needed a voice, and mine was it at that moment. The store manager etc. came, etc. I pretty much said to call police. She booked out of there fast.

I don't recall ever spanking or hitting my kids. I may have grabbed them by the arm, got their attention for sure, but that was the extent of it. I did spank my 8yr old nephew once for playing with matches in the garage trying to light some paper. His parents were at work and their "other" aunt (my xsil) was obviously not watching him. When I got there, I gave him a wack on his tush, sent him to his room crying and made him sit there until his parents got there a couple of hours later. (probably not a good idea to spank someone elses kid though) this kid was always the handful. The only reason I knew about it was my kids were over there, called me to come pick them up, they wanted to leave/come home, since their cousin was in trouble for playing with matches. They had gone in house and told on him....

Wow Mary. That’s a story for sure.
We spanked the boys. Ds1 has so many we couldn’t keep count the youngest took notes, I think he had less than 5. Timeouts didn’t work for ds1 but did for ds2.
Still no news on the dog.
I had something very witty to say but I forgot now.
Left my phone at home all day. I was a hot mess without it. Too much to remember.
    Dinner with mom tonight.
    Have a great night.
