How do you (do you?) incorporate strength training into your weight loss journey?

I haven't utilized weights since college so I've started very slowly with the minimum weight at each station and only one set of 10 reps. It's now week three and I've boosted the sets to two, still at the lowest setting, and figure I'll keep increasing the reps until that is no longer a challenge and then increase the weight. Does this sound reasonable?
