Herniated Cervical disc compressing spinal cord.

So as my title says I have a herniated disc (C5) compressing my spinal cord. My doctor says my MRI screams surgery but my symptoms are showing it can heal on its own. I am not allowed to run. I can use the elliptical and stationary bike (which I hate!!!)
Anyone ever been through this? He said it can take a long time to heal and I am so worried I will never be able to run again. This really sucks. Of course my health comes first...but here I am feeling sorry for myself😭
Any advice on staying in shape? I was going to do another half this spring..😞
