Hi you guys!
I was diagnosed with PCOS just before I went away to get married (last October) and I didn't feel like I could deal with it at the time so I still have my referral letter from my doc tucked away at home and I never faxed it because I know they are just going to put me on metformin. I have been warned that this can cause massive weight gain (not for everybody but you just know I'd be one of the unlucky ones!!) and I really want to see what I can do to help myself before I turn to the drugs.
I had that contraceptive bar in my arm (Implanon) and it was there for 3 years. My periods stopped when it went in (which the doc says is normal) but I piled the weight on and I haven't been right since. I don't get my TOTM now unless I am on the pill. I am not on the pill at the moment because I am so fed up putting crap into my body which might not help and I feel that taking hormones caused the problem in the first place.
HOWEVER my doc says I have to so something to induce a bleed at least once every 3 months. It has now been 10 months and I am worried. I tried Agnus Castus which is meant to be brill (I think it is Vitex in the states) but I am still the same. I am reading about Inositol at the moment and wonder if anoyone here has tried it?
I have the pill in my handbag today, was thinking of taking it today and for the rest of the week so that I would have a withdrawl bleed but I really don't want to if there is another way.
I don't know anyone else with PCOS so I don't have anyone to turn to about it would love to hear from you all in particular if anyone has any advice. If you don't want to post feel free to send me a private message. Thanks so much Amy-Louize xx

Hi Amy!
I also stumbled across some info on inositol online, WebMD has alot of info on it. I did read that the dosage is about 2000mg-4000mg per day. That seems really high so I put off taking it until I tell my Dr. about it on my next appointment which is on 8/27. I also havent been prescribed any meds, I'm sure my Dr. will be referring me to an RE on this next appointment since she just diagnosed me with PCOS 3 weeks ago. However, I did express to her that I wanted to lose weight before I take any fertility meds, I just want the safest pregnancy possible. So far my immediate goal is to lose at least 50lbs before TTC (My Long term is 130lbs). I've commited myself to a low carb diet and eating as clean as possible and I'm aiming to workout 5x's per week. I'm also drinking Veggie/Fruit smoothies to help up my raw food intake. Sorry that I dont have much info on Inositol for you, but I just wanted to reach out and let you that you are not alone when it comes to the PCOS battle!0 -
I'm using progesterone cream from days 14-28 of my cycles, and it induces a period every month so far, starts about 5 days after I stop using the cream. (so I'm having 33 day cycles which is really amazing for me)
I have been seeing a naturopath who is the one that prescribed the cream. She's also helped me find some supplements that level out my blood sugars and hormones. I definitely recommend seeing a naturopath if you don't want to go on the pill or other drugs, and before you start adding in a bunch of your own supplements - every PCOS woman is different and has a different hormone imbalance so you can really screw yours up if you just go off of "general" online research.0
