Pedal switch vs severity of crash injuries

If you've switched from clipless pedals to platform pedals or switched in the other direction, what impelled the move?
Do you know of any studies that relate pedal type to injury severity in a crash?

A few at this link:

My own recent experience is anecdotal, (not science!). But am I ready to throw in the towel on my clipless pedals? I want to believe I don't have too much invested in them to go platform. In my most recent dumb crash, I'd focused my gaze on a painted line instead of watching to see that the curb would soon change my posture from up to down--result: more road rash than necessary from being clipped in. Sadly, the riding season has begun to wind down and cooler weather has me trying to keep warm and blow my nose vs. extending summer riding speeds.

Cheers!

I know my shins thank me for switching to clipless pedals. I've gone down so many times on my MTBs and I don't think I've ever hurt my hips.

I switched from clipless to Canfield platforms on my MTBs. I'm WAY faster downhill because I have more control, and I haven't had any 'dumb' crashes since the switch. I should say that I like to ride rocky, technical terrain, and am convinced that platforms are the way to go. Uphill pedaling takes some getting used to, but I'll sacrifice climbing speed for control and safety on the descent. Happy riding!

Clipless pedals or flats / platform pedals on my road and cross country bikes I have clipless peddles on my trail and downhill bikes I use flats.
As you dab more and the terrain changes a lot faster on trail and downhill I find flats give me the control and allow for quick reactions, they also allow for tricks and stunts.
With clipless peddles on my road and XC bikes in like the peddle control.
Each peddle type has its pros and cons.
