Exercise After C-Section

Hi ladies! I am 8 months postpartum and I have finally stated working out more regularly with online videos. I have found that after my second c-section last May, I have lost the feeling from my bellybutton to my pubic bone so doing any sort of ab exercises have been very difficult because I can't tell if the muscles are working or not. I've tried putting my hand on my lower abs to see if they are contracting but I have so much extra weight around my mid-section that I honestly can't tell if they are. The only thing I can go off of is that my upper abs are contracting so at least something is working. But this has got me a little discouraged so I am just wondering if any other mommas out there have had this issue and what did you do about it?
