I Made Some Changes

Hey all! Just finished up day thirteen. I am on level two, and have been for about five days now.
However, I noticed that I've gone from looking forward to the workout to dreading it. I am much happier going out for a run, going to the gym or doing my own core work. I know Jillian's talks by heart. I actually took two days off this weekend. I told myself they were "rest days," but I still went to the gym. Truth was, I just didn't want to do the stinkin' DVD anymore.
So today, I decided to introduce two new elements. I wanted to see if I could spice things up a bit:
1.) I listened to my own music. I muted my TV, threw on my headphones, and did my workout to my own music. I could still watch the TV to make sure I was doing what I was supposed to, but the added motivation- a bit of Van Halen - made me push even harder. I've memorized Jillian's commentary, so I know how much time I have left when she says each thing. Taking that off my mind made the workout fly by.
2.) I set up my full-body mirror in front of my workout space. It sure wasn't pretty, but it made me realize quite a few things. First, that I am not going nearly as deep into my lunges as I could. Second, my high knees sure aren't as high as I was telling myself they were. And third, I shouldn't give up, because even though I'm drenched in sweat and redder than a fire truck, I can see where my body is changing. Adding a mirror gives you a way to tell if you're really pushing yourself as hard as you could, and it gives you something else to look at - even if that does sound a bit narcissistic!
So tl;dr, my advice to you all is not to give up when the workout feels like less of a challenge and more of a chore. Make little alterations, keeping it as fresh as D1L1.

Those sound like great suggestions. I'm doing ripped in 30 lvl 2 right now- I tried to do lvl 3 and it was way too hard for me. So I think I'm going to go back to lvl 2 and 3 of 30 ds (did them 2 years ago) and then try lvl 3 and 4 of ripped in 30. I think you have to keep it fresh with JM because it can get a bit monotonous. I've also started adding 2 circuits of no more trouble zones after my ripped in 30 to add a bit more to the exercise.0
