Yesterday, when I topped out at the summit, I saw a small barrel cactus growing “right out of a rock.”. I had to take a picture because it spoke to about the hardiness and resilience of life. Life prevails everywhere.
Within the picture, you will see that a yellow flower is budding within the parent cactus. There are small yellow spring flowers in the lower left. I could see wispy desert stems with lavender flowers in the upper right behind the rock.14 -
Here is a different angle to focus on how amazing it is to see that cactus somehow sprouting from the rock itself.14 -

Calories: Yes, under budget. Went out for drinks with friends after we'd gone to see a play, but I just had the one glass of wine I had budgeted for and a few little nibbles, within budget.

This newbie's 1st pass day...wah, wah, wah...
Exercise? YES
Calorie budget? NO
One indulgent meal at In and Out was worth one whole day of calories for a 4'11" woman like me but I enjoyed it at the beach here in central coast of California. (I'd post a picture but unable) I did try to cut back with only drinking water and having the burger protein style without bun but had to get fries... Since I knew I couldn't make up for this choice I indulged in two scoops of ice cream enjoyed at the park and that was also worth a whole day of calories for me. Today I ate enough for 2 and a half people my size and still need to go without dinner or I'll be eating enough for 3 people.

Great photos. I noticed on today's walk that the little lavender stalk flowers had bloomed like crazy here. I'm glad that spring wildflowers are underway. It's nice to get a little beauty before the summer heat strikes.

Backsliding is a normal human trait. Recommitting to healthy habits is what really counts in the long run, even when you have to do so over and over and over again.

Exercise? Yes! An hour painting the bathroom, then 40 minutes of BoxVR to close my move ring.
Under calories? I believe so. With Chinese takeout it’s hard to be precise, but over estimated to be safe. Sooooo many yummy vegetables in that meal! Probably waaaay over on sodium, so will avoid the scale tomorrow. 😂
