Yesterday, @Hollis100 quoted Viktor Frankel, author of Man's Search for Meaning.
Hollis also noted that the real goal of the UAC was NOT the Winner's Circle but rather long-term changes.
That is so true!
We all like a reward and recognition for achieving something. The Winner's Circle serves as that reward.
On the other hand, for those who have been with me on this path for some time know, we really want to achieve long-term change by creating healthy habits.

Friday night, I will post on the MFP Challenge Board an invitational promotion for the May 2020 UAC.
I'll post the Challenge Board link after I create that promo.

@RangerRickL Thanks for the inspiration and all your work to maintain the UAC.
I thought about Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning because he wrote the book about his experience at Auschwitz in WWII.
His terrible confinement can't compare to our stay-at-home confinement now. At the same time, it's painful for most of us to be away from friends and family and treasured community activities. The gyms are closed. The pandemic has made my workplace nightmarish at times.
It helped me to think about Frankl's wise words, that we can endure almost anything if we can find meaning, a purpose we can feel positive about. We have to be willing to adapt and choose our attitude.11 -
@RangerRickL thank you for all your efforts, love and for all your efforts to keep the challenge alive. Although I will not be in the winners circle this month, I have a lot to be thankful for. Take care.
@Chinkiri
You are welcome.
All along and even at the worst moment I always looked at the good side.
I kept this in mind and it gave me hope and kept mefrom going absolutely bonkers.
About 95% of people with COVID will recover without any problems.
About 2.5-5% are serious enough to be hospitalized but get out alive.
I’ll take those odds.
I prayed that I was in the 95% since I was pretty healthy before all this.
I thank God that I am alive.
I hear you. Stick to it. Sometimes, we all need to take a step back to go forward. The fact that you are here is a resounding testimony that you are still in business.
Stay safe in your neck of the woods and take care my friend.
@cjane917
Sorry to hear about your cruise. I hope that when you go next time, it will even be better without the threat of Covid in the background.
You are right. We should count our blessings and not our misfortunes!
@Hollis100 his book is an increadible testimony of determination and instinct to survive. Take care and be safe.
@MadisonMolly2017
I am with you. The secret to success is getting back on the horse after you get knocked down. I am cheering you on that you make it to the winner’s circle this month!
@epangili Thank you!
To all who are in the winner’s circle let me be the first to offer my congrats! Well done.
To all who did not make it. Stick with it.
Focus on "process" not perfection.
Have a great day all! Good luck to ALL! Woot! 🙌

Two more Viktor Frankl quotes:Those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how'.
The above quote was included in a recent webinar about applying aspects of cognitive behavior therapy techniques to coping with the stresses of social / physical distancing and other covid-required responses that might be weighing on an individual's mental reserves.
The speaker pointed out that Frankl's comment stemmed from the fact that it was not necessarily the physically strongest / intellectually smartest sent into the concentration / labor camps who survived in the end. It was those with the strongest internal sense of "why I need to live"
And I just found this quote, which builds on that with practical examples.
A man who becomes conscious of the responsibility he bears toward a human being who affectionately waits for him, or to an unfinished work ... knows the "why" for his existence, and will be able to bear almost any "how".4 -
Today is a pass day. It's Friday and I'm having a full blown Happy Hour here. Exercise in, all recorded, but will be over caloric plan. Last pass being used for a much needed break from the work week. Cheers everyone! Drinking brew from one of my favorite local breweries.

Late walk, home right on dusk.
Got busy with home duties late in the evening and forgot to post (again). However remembered in the morning.
@RangerRickL. Your comment today is very pertinent. I am having to change a number of things about me to suit my current situation.
This is despite the government imposed COVID restrictions.
The biggest challenge is changing my attitudes towards myself. I am fighting hard against depression. Some days I feel like I may have an advantage, but other days I feel crushed.
I also though I was healthy by maintain weight and fitness, but my cholesterol balance has other opinions (so did the mini-stroke). So I now have to take medication (which I abhor doing) and enlisted the help of my wife to try get my diet in better shape to help get cholesterol under control. I still have low blood pressure, low heart rate, good blood oxygenation and no evidence of arterial narrowing. Hopefully the mini-stroke was a one off.

Tracking and budget both get yesPicture of Buddy from last summer
Maybe summer before.
Time seems to be moving faster now.
One of my favorite pictures of the little rascal.
I wish it had a better background but I like how the light and shadow is.
I see this picture and I always imagine something about what he is expressing.
I think he is expressing his understanding of me.
He knows that without saying a word he can get me to do anything.
So there is an undertone of mischievousness or deviousness in that look.
Sometimes this is as far as I get in my search for meaning.
Problems in the world?
That stuff drives me crazy.
Perspective of a little boy whose life only knows love
and language only needs laughter.
I settle right on in to that.11 -

We, Rose and me, are learning new ways to socialize with our friends and families. Today we did two separate conversation times with friends. The both experiences lasted over an hour. The first call was Facetime and the second one was a Messenger video/audio call. Very nice and we actually felt like we were together!!
Exercise: 65 minutes of hiking with Rose on a too busy path. No more of that
Tracking: good
Calories:: well under.9 -

24th April
Tough day yesterday, mentally. I really struggled. The sun didn't come out until late afternoon, it was dry but grey. The weather makes a big difference to my mood these days.
Exercise: minimal, just about 15 minutes to the shop and back, so this has to be a Pass Day.
Calories: I think I stayed under, but I stopped logging at some point
Tracking: No, there were nibbles of cheese I didn't log.
I'll try again today.

@nodm Thanks for your wise words. I'm trying as best as I can to be safe. And I agree: process, not perfection.
@BMcC9 Thanks for looking up those quotes and excerpts. Resoundingly true in my life experience.
@SuziQ113 Great photo! I've never tried Funky Buddha beer. Need to put it on my list. Hope you had a relaxing afternoon.
@oldDogBiking Love the photo of Buddy. Now I have a face to go with the stories. What a great little guy, full of joy.3 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? yes, at least 420 minutes, maybe more (walking 90 minutes and at least 330 minutes disinfecting the public areas of my workplace).
I was too exhausted to post here last night. On the plus side, I'm doing walking meditations the whole time I disinfect, including when I work with the public, so I have something for myself duirng this dark time.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? yes6 -
Yes/Yes/....nope. Classic mistake of drinking my calories. One pass punched. 🦨7
