Normally we'd introduce this thread with lots of wishes to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather but these are not normal times...even for lushes! Hopefully things will turn around soon and we can all share memories of how we all coped. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy and keep on lushing! :drinker:

Thanks for beginning the new thread Sydney!
I found out a couple days ago that a firefighter I worked with has come down with the virus. I was his Lieutenant when he was first hired and I mentored him through his probation. His wife has now come down with it. They have two boys, early teens. They are very sick but not enough to go to the hospital. Neighbors are leaving food at the front door for them. Welcome to our new normal.

Other than staying home a lot, we are hanging in there. Our local MJ dispensary is considered an "essential" service so I was able to stock up. Not a lot to be upbeat about, although I do think we are doing the right thing "flattening the curve".

    Stay healthy!

So scary, Gary! That's hitting close to home. There isn't a lot to be upbeat about these days and I'm fearful we haven't even seen the worst of it all yet. We all need to be kind to ourselves to get through it all. If we need an extra glass of wine or trip to the dispensary, then go for it! I haven't had to seek out the dispensaries here yet (I stashed up before we moved) but I absolutely believe they are essential services!

And you lushes would be proud of me that I've done my part: we made a curbside pick up at Bevmo (local liquor store) that included wine, tequila, beer and vodka. We should be set for weeks on supplies :D:drinker:

Settling down here to our quarantine. The other day Darla's niece and her kids were in the neighborhood and did a drive by visit. Rolled down the windows and we said hi. It was good to actually see them. Being able to stay in contact is so important. Keeping in touch with family, and hanging out with you guys is good food for my soul. o:)

Unexpected death in the family. Darla's cousin, one she had grown up with, got an infection in her toe, which spread to her blood and then to her spine and brain. We got the word she was in the hospital Thursday and she died yesterday evening. She had sepsis and a brain infection, meningitis.

I had a similar event happen to me in 2015, where an ear infection spread to my blood and into my brain. If my wife had not been here to call 911 I wouldn't have survived the day.

Life is short, enjoy every minute, even if stuck at home. Call some friends, see how they are doing. And most important, don't forget to take care of YOU! <3

How horribly sad, Gary! I remember when you got sick. That was so scary. It feels like everything is scary these days.

I think everyone is also appreciating our good health more than ever now. Nothing else really matters.

4.9 earthquake yesterday centered about 17 miles from us. We knew we were moving to earthquake country (they conduct tours of the San Andreas fault here 😳) so I may have had a bit more wine than planned last night. I know you lushes would understand.

Hope you're all safe and doing well :drinker:

In the hospital for a few days. For some reason I developed a clot in my leg and lung. Looking forward to getting this sorted out.

Oh gosh Gary, that's awful! I hope you heal quickly ! As someone that has had a DVT, I know a bit of what you are dealing with except I didn't have mine during a pandemic. Praying for you!

Thanks Ann. My worry now is the underlying cause. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's something easily dealt with.

I am so happy yours had a good outcome!

Lean away, Gary! I won't bombard you with questions yet. Thinking of you...sipping my red wine listening to a rare desert rain shower...hoping you're resting and well.

Syd, a desert rain shower sounds so relaxing!
I was discharged today. Leg still sore but getting better. Now to see specialists to find out why this happened! Very tired. It was hard to rest while being awoken every few hours for vitals and blood work. Also, sleeping with an iv in, ekg telemetry wires on and an O2 monitor on was not helpful. It seemed every hour or so I rolled over and pinched the iv line, resulting in the alarm going off.

Going to bed early! Happy Easter everyone!

Thanks Ann! Darla and I slept 10 hours last night. Feel like a new man. . . . Will most likely turn in my lush card for a few days, I have lost a bit of weight and want to see if I can continue the trend!

Hi lushes!! Just checking in. Hope you're all well and staying healthy.

All good here. 100 degree temps have arrived in the desert :o I was hoping to start swimming but all pools are still closed so I'm exercising indoors. Brought out my weights and old DVDs. I'm trying to keep the weight off that I lost during the move but it feels like all we're doing is eating and drinking.

Son was supposed to visit for my birthday this weekend. I really miss him :'( But we'll video chat and make the best of it!
    Cheers everyone :drinker:

Happy birthday Syd! Not an ideal birthday, I know, but have a cocktail and try to enjoy your day. Mine is right around the corner... :# I know what you mean about missing your son, I feel like I haven't seen my girls in forever!
Hi Gary!! Hope you are feeling better!!! <3

    Thanks Ann, feeling much better.

I saw the oncologist today.. He does not think cancer has anything to do with the clots. I will have labs done again in August to confirm the possible genetic predisposition to clotting the initial test have. Until then, moderate exercise, drop some weight and just do the things I should be doing! A good day! <3

    Great news, Gary!! :)

I've put back on the 4 lbs I lost during the move. The birthday celebration didn't help. I need to get back to a better routine...maybe one that doesn't include eating so much crap.

But, but, but, eating crap is something I look forward to every day!

Kidding aside, I need to establish my routine again. Difficult with the distractions of the corona virus, but much needed!
