I asked @Chinkiri to give me insight into what Bastille Day means to the French people. You will enjoy reading her reply:
"Traditionally there was always a huge military parade on the Champs Elysees in Paris, with an inspection of the troops by the President, finishing with the Marseillaise, the French national anthem. It's cancelled this year of course, but you may remember Trump attended 2 years ago and was so impressed he's been wanting to do his own parade in the States. It is quite spectacular, lasts several hours and most people watch it on TV.
Then usually family lunch and a nap and in the evening there is a huge open air ball in every town, city and village in France, followed by fireworks, then more dancing and drinking.
In smaller cities, like hours, the Mayor and other dignitaries usually have a ceremony with local military personnel, honours are handed out, very solemn, Marseillaise sung.
The French Revolution was quite a complex set of events, causes and consequences. It's still being evaluated by historians, but, as Mao zedong said, when he was asked what he thought about it, 'It's too soon to know!' The version French school students have to learn is rather romanticized. (I wrote my Master's dissertation on a French artist during the Revolution)
Hope this gives you a picture !"
Thank you, Chinkiri

Freezing cold day but I did a fitness assessment for my insurance (it's super easy although my shoulders still object to push-ups so I need to work on that), zoom Jiu Jitsu, yoga and I did some of my rehab exercises.
Food choices were ok and close enough to budget to be ok for a day like this.
Spent most of the day reading but did start early with a visit to a friend to cuddle her meercat!9 -
3 yesses for me. Managed the first run for Couch to 5k week 3 - it felt tough which I’m sure it shouldn’t! I used to be able to run, but I think I’ve been a bit too tired recently. Keeping going though.10

Well done @fairy_daisy 💪!! Keeping at it is what will get you there with the running. I always think it’s partly about fitness but also so much about your mind! If you believe you can do it, I’m sure you will. And you used to run so you can again.
Three yeses from me today, feeling way better than I was a few days. Exercise was 30 mins of yoga, and two long dog walks. The circuit training I did with my son on Sunday is still making my muscles sore today!11 -
Well, I may be overly optimistic...but I have planned my dinner...and am declaring that the kitchen is closed. ;D 3 yes's for today, and even though it is very hot here(100, could hit 102 they say) - I might try to walk a big path that I've been thinking about going on. Just need to get. out. of. the. house.... So, after my in home zoom ZUMBA class...might just lace up and go. I'll let ya know tomorrow. Have fun Ranger Rick! Thanks for sharing Chinkiri!
My tally to date is 1 pass day used.
Side note - thankfully...truly...my pains are finally subsiding. Thanks for all who prayed or sent well wishes.
I just want to say to you all...during this time of uncertainty...it has been very helpful to know that you guys are "out there" fighting and thriving through all of this in your own corner of the world.12 -

Proud of myself for doing my workouts the last few days despite not really wanting to, once I do them I feel like I accomplished something & it's like a weight is off my back knowing I finally got it over with. 30 minutes is such a short amount of time in most settings, but during a workout it feels like it's been hours lol. The strength workout kicked my butt but I took it easy as to not push myself too hard since I'm only just getting back into it. I have plenty of time to improve, I'd like to do it at least 3x a week now. Just a little worried of getting burnout soon, I've done so well the past 16 days & this is usually the time I start to give out a little. But that just means I have to be extra mindful to get through the rest of the first month without too many slip-ups, I refuse to let myself down for the millionth time.11 -
@Chinkiri Thanks for the lesson in French history and culture -- very interesting. I visited France many years ago and loved the country and the people.
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? yes, disinfecting the public areas of my workplace due to the virus, plus slow walking over an 8-period. I only log 3 hours because I'm not sure about MFP's calorie count.

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?--- Did I EVER! (up at ~4:00 to try to see a comet - had to walk ~ 20 minutes to the vantage point - glaring at clouds-in-the-way for ~ 10 minutes - walk home again. almost 3000 steps before 5:15 am! Plus bike ~20 minutes Plus long evening stroll.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?----MORE than made up for yesterday's under-burn! (must have been because of the early start ... despite going back to bed for ~1.5 hours, and then overtime at the desk today - or fitbit gave me credit for "frustration-burning" too LOL already over 1520 cals burned (biking not registered on fitbit yet) and not even 11:00 pm yet!
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank----yes indeedy!
Days goals met: 13
Pass days used: 1 (unexpected)
Must admit, we enjoyed the effect of the light gradually brightening as we walked .... remided me of my favourite "magic clocktower setting" in my exergame .... but not convinced I want this to be a regular "pre-workday thing" ... particularly the way work has been going lately! (computer-type and email overload stress rather than like the months-on-end physical exhaustion others have had to deal with)

I was up most of the night with cramps and a headache. I called out of work, and will be out tomorrow due to fever of almost a hundred, tonight. I did manage to put most of the furniture in my bedroom back where it belongs, because it is the only room in the house that doesn’t need further work. So, I logged everything, came in under and got the exercise in, because of nightstands.
@Hollis100 , thank you for the kind words yesterday. I uploaded my resume to a couple of job sites tonight, and one of my former bosses validated my skill set, so that’s a good thing.10 -
