Had to settle on this if I didn't want to order online.

I still will likely buy the rod Lee suggested online, I just hadn't gotten to it and ran out of time to have by tomorrows depart.

Pickins on the shelves we're scarce in the stores. I went to Fleet Farm, Cabella's, and finally ended up at a Walmart way out of town for this one, spend $35.99, plus some tackle. "Big spender, I know."

    My first open reel rod.

Nice little spinning reel and rod. Actually my personal favorite conventional set up. That should work well for you, especially if you start using artificial lures.

You a lefty? I see it is set up for right handed retrieve.
