The blessed curse of being an amazing woman!

Basically I hate my body right now and I totally get why I was craving hotdogs yesterday!
So advice time do any of you other lovely ladies (sorry men even if you are married I don't know if you can really get it) go through terrible cravings that once a month (or less if your all messed up like me) and what do you do to stop it!

I crave salt and cheese oddly enough so badly and my body holds on to every drop of it for those cursed 3-5 days and then done!

So instead of me diving chops first into the closest 7-11 for nachos covered in cheese what are some of this tricks!

Now I know you guys get cravings too and have those neat little cures but if your like my husband it's nothing compared to a raging hormone tornado where the only cure is salt and cheese!

I can't wait for my body to become regular again so I can time this! That stopped about 30 lbs ago and I really want it back!

I am not sure if this will work for you Holly, but have you tried the "next best alternative" method? It's funny you mention 7-11 nachos, they are literally one of my most favorite cravings on the planet! I find that if I have something similar, sometimes that helps to curb the crazy...

I like baked Tostitos with Tostitos Queso Dip. 16 chips is 120 calories and the dip is 40 calories for 2 Tbs. The key is to portion it before you dive in! So, for less than 200 calories, you can indulge the craving (in the hopes that you don't run off the deep end and grab the car keys), and feel satisfied.

I also drink a big glass of water before I eat, another during the snack, and then another to finish up! So, I get at least 24 oz. of water to counteract the salty deliciousness too!

If you are running low on calories, you could dip carrots or celery too...

    Hope that helps!!

You're next best alternative sounds YUMMY!!! I might have to try it.
  • I actually did just that CC and then I went to bed so I didn't have to argue with my fridge! By the next morning I was feeling human again!!!! It was very frustrating though, in the past I never bothered to care and just went with the cravings!

I did read the article Alana shared and it made me laugh cause I work in a drug and alcohol addiction treatment and they listed foods for those cravings! If only it was really that easy!! Unfortunately cravings are not only physical!

I will def use the next best thing method next time too!
  • Making changes are NEVER easy, but at least some ideas help. The key is WANTING to change... Many addicts don't want to change, they enroll in those programs feeling pressured by family/loved ones and it'll never work until THEY want to make the change. Even then it is HARD.
  • Absolutely we actually use a behaviour model over illness model for addictions which is where I learned that I must change my behaviours long term and not treat myself like being fat is an illness my only medication is hard work and commitment to me! Except for maybe the next day, I am coming down with some real illness likely a respitory infection given the sound of my cough!
