Yesterday, @SummerSkier posted about her horse Bandit's injury. It made me think about how much our pets mean to so many of us.

I really am being forced to begin to embrace the exercise equipment we have collected, and neglected, over the years. This morning, the black ice was everywhere. On Sunday, when it was comparatively better, I almost wiped out three times during my walk. Unless it the roads thaw during the day today, I and not risking injury out there. BUT, this is also good news. I am going to have to get used to these machines, and I have to credit this push to being in this group and needing to find some sort of exercise every day.7

Thatβs all my boys a few years ago. Small species of python so he will never be big enough to be a threat to the others. Plus they only ever have supervised play time. My dog has been a puppy for 11 years and is now very much an old dog, but I got new meds for him so hopefully that helps. And obviously I have an abundance of fur kids (including the scaly and feathered ones) at work!
Over calories today but not by too much due to lunch with friends who are in town visiting family. I went to school with her and we try and catch up wherever we are in each otherβs home town. There is a lovely restaurant with big open outside area and the rain stayed away so it was nicely COVID friendly.
Exercise was good, morning run and midday yoga. Run was on the toughest hill route around home and I ran the entire thing! I was very impressed.8 -

And I have 5 pets at home keeping a close eye on me to make sure I do all my work that I am supposed to. My boss would like that to mean work work, but they mean - keep the boxes clean, keep the water dishes clean and full, keep the radiant heaters on, keep the food bowls clean. Taskmasters ONE AND ALL!4 -

if you are working on a computer you will see the little photo icon at the top of your post. 4th from the right. Click on that and they browse to where you have a photo. If you are on your phone I think it's even easier to insert a picture.

Though I know weight numbers are not the primary focus for us here in the UAC, I want to share that for November (a fairly challenging calorie month) I managed to get rid of 7.2 pounds, and for the October Challenge another -5.0. I am now weighing slightly less than October 2019, which seems like a miracle. Target weight is in sight (129-130 β weight at my nephewβs May 2019 wedding) and doable in the next couple months. I am grateful for the results. Also notable for the November UAC, I entered and walk/ran a virtual 5K. I looked at the results and I came in 154/357 for total entries, 87/234 female, and 19/87 over 50 female. I would have been happy if I even came in last, because I entered. Being in the top 50% is super motivating even though I know this kind of race is not full of competitive runners.
So now for my December UAC. I am starting by raising my daily target calories by 50, and will be re-evaluating this every 10 days, as I want to start easing into my eventual maintenance calories. I donβt want to get go from lower calories to higher calories in a single day. I will be trying my best for the Winnerβs circle, but need to be realistic and will at least commit to showing up daily and aiming to be a champion and aim to clean off 2 more pounds during December. Then, during my next 9 days in the Keys, I plan to walk/run to Sombrero Beach and even try to get you a sunrise photo (will take some planning ) and get back home. Google maps claims the distance is 3.3 miles each way. At for the rest of the month, my brain can only cope with planning til the 12th. Will regroup again once up north again.
BTW in November, I did not opt for eating back my βexerciseβ calories like I had planned. My problem with the method of eating back each dayβs exercise calories is that that calorie number not compatible with advance planning and tracking, and I like to plan and pre-track my days. So this is the reason I am going try upping my planned daily calories instead and that way I can continue with the pre-tracking that works well for me.
Here we go!

Hopefully tomorrow will be better with my tracking. It's our weekly "order out" day, so I'm going to plan my day and exercise so I can stay under.
We had to put our cat down this past March...the week before the pandemic broke loose in the US. It's been hard without her. She was 16-1/2.9 -

All of the pets are beautiful! I'll have to take a pic of my 2 dogs tomorrow and post it.
My sympathies to those who have lost their beloved pets. I lost 2 last year. And I think about all of my past pets just about every day.3 -
@bellesouth18 I too have lost 3 Golden Retrievers before getting a 4th ( Buckley) its NEVER easy and yes I still think about all my past ones too!
I second what you said...Thank you to all who posted the pics. It was lovely looking at all the animals and my sympathies as well to all those who have lost their dear pets, big hugs to you!3 -
