Thursday. 1 more day to go
For us working people.
Lee, how many hours do
You work now??
Cold here. A little snow still on rooftops from last week.
My car is in the shop. Loaner is a brand new Nissan Altima. It’s nice.
Hope my repair is minimal.
Nothing else to report.0 -
Kelly, your Christmas table is beautiful! I'd love to see the little lights all lit up, too. Enjoy that Altima! Jim drives a Rogue ... I like it a lot. And that's absolutely crazy about your friend's husband. It blows my mind that people don't see this reality. Dd20 and her bf have it, too. They're recovering nicely, thank God.
Stay warm, Raine! That's gotta feel unfair!
Lou, we were supposed to get our new appliances on Nov. 19. The new day, which we were given at about 8pm on Nov. 19, is January 5. I'd promised my old fridge to a family in need, too ... I felt awful having to tell them that it got delayed. It's not SUCH a big deal for us ... we can make it - we're just inconvenienced ... but it was a big deal for them.
Dave, you are so inspiring with your activity! I want to say that I wish I were like that, but I am aware that it's a choice and I'm not a victim. I did do 15 minutes on the rowing machine this morning. Do any of you ever listen to Pastor Steven Furtick? I watched an old message of his called "How to Come out of This Year Stronger" and it was PHENOMENAL. Totally applicable to 2020. In fact, it's probably MORE applicable to 2020 than it was 2017. I like to work out to his messages.
What did you end up doing, Dennis?
Mary, they LOVE you! But I can't say I blame you for not re-running. And I'm right there with you on the deliveries. I've done ALL my Christmas shopping online this year. And I'm pretty much done! i do need to come up with an inexpensive thing for my sponsees ... something less than $10, because I have a lot of them to buy for. I might just bake cookies.
Thank you to Skip for the email! I promised him I'd come say hello. Let's see ... we got the interior remodel done, and we LOVE it! You can see lots of pics on my fb page. It took a total of 2 weeks, which is SO fast compared to what most people tell me. We're waiting on the materials and the building permit for the deck, but that's next. And the appliances. One of the things about the remodel that I'm really appreciating is the new mantle. I had the builder install a hidden outlet and switch for the fireplace, and hidden hooks that I can use to hang decorations and stockings. I LOVE THAT! No more cluttered mantles with all those stocking hangers! It's clean and pretty and functional! I'll attach a before and after for you to see.

Morning~
Lisa - you made my day! Thank you for jumping in here and catching up with us! We've missed you! Beautiful setup and family photo too!
Dennis - how's your neighbor? Hopeful nothing serious or COVID related.
My Dad is scheduled to fly down next week for a week - but I think we might belay his trek. He's gotten rapid testing at airport both times previously - and has been negative - so we shall see.
Long night last night. Today - with luck - will be a shorter day.
Enjoy bbb.0 -
Mornin' BBB.
Depends on the week. At least 40, generally 50 +. More if you count time spent at home doing charts, emails to clients, going over cases with DW. And I am not counting the people that have my cell # that text me whenever. Busier now than before went into partnership with Heart and Paw due to their wonderful(not) software called Vetspire, and making less $$$.
I garnered a small victory with the idiots in charge yesterday. They tried to muscle me into switching to a new in house lab system that is inferior to our existing system in every way except in profitability. I basically said if they insisted on replacing IDEXX (existing system) with the ABAXIS (more profitable), I would send everything out to the IDEXX reference lab. I know it sounds a bit petty, but after using the ABAXIS system in house for two weeks we have first hand experience in how craptastic it is. Reluctantly, the brass acquiesced. Morons.
Had to remind them that we are still a part owners of the practice (albeit minority partners) that DW and I have been running for 18 yrs and that I am the top top earner out of all the practices they are in partnership with and that I might actually know what I am talking about.
Aren't you glad you asked, Kelly? Do I sound like Lou?
Where is that bottle of scotch?
BBB OP ;-)

Beautiful Lisa!
Lovely table Kelly.0 -
I love that mantle redo, as well Lisa, and Kelly your table is very nice! Its beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Yay! Im almost done shopping. Tom and I just bought lake property, so we are going to just pass on getting eachother stuff. Although I did buy him an axe for choppin wood, a great small one recommended for making kindling.
Dave, we too have all the legal late fees and liens set up for the hoa fees, point is I don't want to have to issue the certified letters, and go through all the extra work and time involved in collecting late payments. These are grown adult homeowners, pay.it.on.time. Like most of us do. So, I think tomorrow, I will start knocking on doors and say, pay me right now, and I waive the late fee and go away ? Dennis, Skip - thoughts on that ??? Its due 12/4 ?
Today is grocery shopping day, and Im heading out NOW to do it, early, before the covid cesspool of folks arrive.
Take care BBB have a good day!0 -
Good morning BBB.
Enjoying the cool sunny weather we have been having - frosty mornings, highs in mid 40s. I expect we'll be back to rain in a few days. A normal December, here, has 21 days of rain, and this la Nina year is supposed to be cooler and wetter than normal.
DW wants to go shopping today. This is a trial, for me. Shopping, for ladies, seems to be random wandering, stopping to examine stuff you have no intention of buying. I face many rocks and shoals on this voyage - do not roll you eyes, do not look at your watch, do try to look interested. Hey, she puts up with a lot from me, so it's the least I can do for her, but experience has shown I am not good at this.0 -
Good Morning,
TGIF Eve for you working stiffs
Emmaus breakfast this morning then went by church to help setup for Sunday,
Tomorrow they are coming to tear out sheetrock ceiling in basement to fix sewer line
My idea of shopping is going in picking up what I want carry to check out and leaving in less than 15 minutes; if grocery shopping for week may take 20 minutes. DW is almost as bad as I am. 50 years ago we met working at J C Penney's Outlet, now neither of us enjoy shopping.
It took us over a month to get washer and drying a couple of months ago, much longer than week promised.
Kelly, Lisa, Skip and Mary appreciate ideas0 -
Good morning BBB Friends.
- Well, yesterday I ended up rooting on the Steelers to victory and I did it very well.
- Neighbor lady is doing well. It turns out she was standing on a folding chair putting decorations on the Christmas tree and took a nasty fall. Nothing broke and they released her from the emergency room after thoroughly checking her out. Note to self, don't stand on folding chairs.
- Lisa, I took a look at the top picture and I'm thinking the mantle is okay. Then I realized that was the before pic. The new mantle is marvelous. Quite a change. BTW, good to see you here. Your BBB family has been missing you. Great picture over the mantle with the real family.
- I am surprised with almost 600 homes our number of late HOA payments is miniscule. Probably has something to do with the age group and most of the folks are retired. DW was the treasurer for one of our earlier HOAs and had the same issues you face Mary. I really like your idea of knocking on the door and saying I am supposed to file a lien but before I do that I wanted to give you the opportunity to save us both the hassle. I imagine you'll get a good return.
- Good for you Lee. They didn't ask you to stay strictly for your medical skills. You built a successful business and have the knowledge to run it. Sometimes you have to remind them of that.
- I can relate Dave. I don't know how many hours I've spent in Hobby Lobby passing time. I stand and stare at whatever I can find interesting on the smart phone. I wish they would put in a husband bench. Kohl's has them.
- I hope your plumber has a successful day Lou and let's hope the dishwasher installer finds time to get back their sooner than he thought.
- Stay well my friends. As the guy from DHS says this pandemic is real.
