Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39
According to Jesus, these are the two greatest commandments, that which the entire law is hinged on. Yet, how often do we fail miserably at these two. I believe we love God when we love ourselves and love others well. He is honoured and loved when you and I take good care of ourselves and others. When we don't take care of ourselves, how can we possibly take care of others? If our bodies are a temple for the Holy Spirit, we must treat these vessels gifted to us with the kindness and respect they deserve, by eating nutritious fare, exercising our minds and bodies, staying hydrated, and getting adequate rest. Then, we're strengthened and prepared to offer ourselves as living sacrifices in the service of our Lord and neighbor. May it be so! Amen.
