@BiketheWorld Very moved by your post. You could’ve ended up being a very bitter woman but you CHOSE to look for things to be grateful for! And You conquered a marathon for crying out loud! Truly an inspiration for us all!

@biketheworld Thank you for 'baring your soul." And congratulations for choosing to keep moving forward. Life is not fair. You are an overcomer and a blessing to me.
Your friend, Rick0 -
@Mrs_Hoffer I am praying for you and your recovery! So sorry you were so sick. Speedy recovery to you!
Rick0 -
Today was a basic UAC day:
Exercise: active stretching; walking and barn chores.
Tracking: good
Calories: below my limit
Also, I've been back in the law firm this week. I am intentionally taking the non-leader role and just being helpful. I am determined to not become a critical humorless old guy! I smiled a lot today!10 -

She got it from me 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ She picked me up from the airport before we had any idea that I had it. Although we isolated as soon as I had any symptoms, it was too late by then.6 -

@Mrs_Hoffer - oh goodness I’m so glad you are ok! And I’m really glad it wasn’t a stroke. Hopefully you are on the road to recovery.
@RangerRickL - I have real trouble picturing you as a “critical humorless old guy”. I have no trouble picturing you as highly regarded and appreciated by your peers. You are certainly highly regarded and appreciated here.
Thank you to all who responded so kindly and thoughtfully to my little story. I have tried to learn from the whole experience and remind myself that we just never know what someone is experiencing. I had a friend tell me once “there’s a lot of walking wounded out there.”

@biketheworld Thank you for sharing. You have been through so much in the recent years. Glad you have found a wonderful man who is there for you, and glad you are with us here in the UAC
@MrsHoffer Glad you are ok. What a scary episode. Heal quickly!
Counting as a "3 yes". I have been tracking and keeping under my calorie limit and in the process yesterday was at a new low weight. That's not necesarily my goal. I am supposed to be maintaining. Anyhow, Tuesday was a very long day ending with welcoming my MIL home to her new downsize townhouse. She is widowed (year and a half) and this downsizing was my FIL's dream, which she always resisted. Yesterday was going to be, and was, quite emotional for her. I few of us family were there when she arrived, and joined her for pizza's. Hubby and I got sent home with the leftovers. When we got home, I was at exactly "0" calories remaining (cool how those numbers sometimes happen). Later in the evening I decided to have another slice (the buffalo chicken pizza was one of the best pizza's I have ever had). Now, what to do? Well I remembered a suggestion by another maintaining member that they use the nutritional feature on their mobile device and check their 7 day average. Well bam, I was still solidly under for my 7 day average. I then got on the exercise bike at 9:30 PM and did my 20 minutes. No pass for me.
To share more about this 7 day average feature. I think this could be a good maintenance tool for me. I have been really struggling with finding how to make calorie tracking while maintaining not set me off, and also how to set the right calorie limit for stasis (past few days I have had unplanned weight losses). Normally on a day like yesterday, once I went over, there would have been no reason for me to limit my "over" because if the 100 calories is pass then what's to stop me from making 1000 calories a pass. This is the psychological piece of the puzzle. So by not having to forfeit another pass by using the average, there is motivation for controlling the overage and preventing binge behavior. This will also allow me to have re-feed days to compensate for under eating on previous days and prevent the unplanned weight losses. Lastly, it helps me to make sure that I track everything, even on a day that has turned into a pass, because using the average tool is only useful with accurate data provided.
Final comment, wow on the scale. That pizza was not kind. 2.6 lb gain overnight. (BTW from my years of daily weighing I know that high carb, salty foods will produce a temporary gain that is illogical in size based on the calories consumed. So I am very much not concerned. That is NOT a trigger for me fortunately because it has become familiar.)
I think I am at 7 passes and 19 non-pass days.......but 3 day weekend is coming!5 -
@SModa61 - I love your calorie averaging strategy, especially as a way to keep you from binging if/when you have a high calorie day. That is brilliant!1

@biketheworld I cannot take credit for it, and to be honest I am not 100% which member mentioned it (it may even have been more than one member that uses it - this was likely March when mentioned). During that time when I wanted to start using it, I was having so many pass days, including inaccurate tracking, that I never had an accurate 7 day average to utilize. I really think this could help me live the maintaining lifestyle.3 -
@biketheworld so happy that u have found happiness dispite all your challenges, keep pushing on 👍👍👍👍

Prior to age 50 I weighed 105lbs and my weight did not fluctuate at all. But now that I'm 15lbs heavier it does. It is something I'm still not used to. I weighed myself the morning after I returned from my vacation and was up about 4lbs from when I left and then the next day I was already down about 2.5lbs. It seems so crazy to me.
On the 7 day average feature. If I'm not mistaken you have iPhone/Watch. The 7 day average an additional app? I also noticed you've mentioned the TDEE from you device. I don't see anything like that ... is that another app?1 -
