Hey!

Hi, I’m new to my fitness pal. I’m am non-binary and I use they/her pronouns. I am a pansexual as well. I wanna lose weight but I’m Afraid I might become Anorexic or something because I’m already at risk for an eating disorder any suggestions?

If you have a medical team, I would absolutely consult with them!

Some behaviors that could be helpful:

    (1) Be deliberately casual about tracking. I have mild OCD, so I sorta planned out in advance the level of tracking food that I felt would make it possible to meet my goal without spiraling into obsession.

    (2) Plan in some yummy foods from day one. It's perfectly okay to eat candy, chocolate, pastries, etc as long as they are in your budget.

    (3) Assuming you don't have a particular health condition, try not to eliminate any foods because they are perceived as "unhealthy". This could be gluten, carbs, fat, etc.

    (4) Be sure that your goal is reasonable. If your initial weight goal is in the lower half of normal BMI, definitely talk to a doctor first. That's not to say that some people shouldn't have such a goal (personally my weight is in this area), but as someone in danger of an ED, you should be extra cautious.

    (5) Select the lowest weight loss goal, and even consider eating a little more than that, so your deficit is only 200 or so calories a day.

    (6) Take regular diet breaks where you eat at maintenance for a couple of weeks (perhaps every 2-3 months).

    (7) Exercise in a healthy manner (not too intense or too much time). It's good to include cardio, strength training, and flexibility. Take days off, too. Absolutely eat your exercise calories.

I hope those help. I have MFP friends who are clearly struggling with EDs, so my advice comes both from my own experiences and observing them.

Welcome to MFP and the group!
