June 14
✅✅✅ calories UNDER!! Tracked all 11,300 steps 1:32 hrs
✅arm exercises 3lb wts, 40reps
0 Pass Days left.
I use my apps to track my steps. I saw my June was slightly low, but yearly was good. Basically, distracted myself with a very mellow embroidery YouTube video & just kept walking until I got to over 90 minutes.
I then congratulated myself with a “Good Job! Yep, you are gonna remain in maintenance!” Surprising how well that little arm pump & compliment works on those days we dig deep & do what it takes!7 -
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? yes
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? yes
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? yes- Treadmill: 39 min / 2.22 mi
- Leg WO (dumbbells)
I don't stretch prior to my weight workouts. I read a study several years ago that suggested there was no evidence it helped to avoid injury so I stopped doing it. Sometimes I do stretch between sets but that's more for movement or because I feel stiff which tends to only happen in the winter when it's cold.7 -
Thank you, Rick! ⚘
No pass days so far in June:
- logged consistently
- under each day, by 27 to 500 cal
- worked out each day, ranging from 30 min to over 2hrs active (including getting around by 🚴♀️). Did a 🔥 hike last Sat 🧗♀️
A little to go and I'll finish Girvan's Epic 1 🏋♀️.
Hope to not disgrace myself, now that I joined and officially report here 🤭.8 -
@dewit I started with Girvan's Epic 1 yesterday. 2 days completed. Just wondering what I can expect in 10 weeks? Do you see the difference? I am going to make pictures tonight for "before" and "after". Would be nice if you could share your experience3

@dewit I don't think there is a disgrace in joining UAC. If so I guess I've disgraced myself for months by joining and not being actively committed lol. But for me the UAC was a goal I aspired too. By joining the group I was forcing myself to take the steps I needed to do to one day move from a passive to an active member. So welcome back and congrats on being committed to trying to accomplish your goal!! Remember that old saying: "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again..."3

I want to thank Sherri, @SModa61 for voluntarily filling in as our UAC leader. She has faithfully carried us through the close of May and into mid-June!
Only I know how much work she has done. She has read everyone of our team member's posts.
She captained the team even though she is in the middle of preparing her home for sale.
I salute you. On behalf of the UAC, I thank you.
Rick
That's amazing. @SModa61 @RangerRickL thank you both. I really enjoy this group.
3/3 today. Stayed on 2 pass days. Lots of physical work emptying boxes of books and walking back and forth from work.
We adopted an older cat. I didn't realize how quickly I would love him 💕6 -
Stretching - I like to do a warm up when I get up in the morning. I also need to do it before golfing and working out. It lubricates everything, gets my heart rate up, increases my flexibility, improves my balance and prevents injury just doing every day tasks like lifting things. After a work out, I do a full body stretch and then a stretch focusing on whatever part of my body I worked. I get bored doing a full yoga class, but I do like 10 minute yoga focus flows aimed at a particular part of the body - it’s like a PT stretch. I probably stretch for more time than I actually work out but everything works better for me. I have an autoimmune disease and severe degenerative arthritis and plan on climbing mountains, lifting weights, kayaking, sailing, golfing, biking, SUP-ing, and anything else I want to do until the day I die. I have convinced my kids to do a daily routine because if it helps me so much and slows further deterioration, imagine what it can help prevent for them!

Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? NO
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? NO
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? YES 60m Pilates reformer
Pass days are all gone... Ugggghhhh… I blew off my goals for June a few days after stating them. But I feel today is a good day to RESTART!!
Stretching is one thing I do daily. It keeps my lumbar limber lol. After years of back trouble due to disc damage and lots of pain and PT, missing out on things I love to do, steroid injections, pain relievers, and now aging, I’ve found what works to keep me mostly painfree.
My stretching routine is a combination of PT exercises (that I initially thought were BORING and of no benefit) along with those from Robin McKenzie’s ‘Treat Your Own Back’ book, Pilates (Hundreds, Spine Stretch Forward, the 5 exercises of The Stomach Series, and from Gaiam’s AM Stretch with Madeleine Lewis dvd. I mix it up, do what I know my body most needs, and tell myself I can do this! Not ugh I have to do this.
My goal for today is to finish listening to the Half Size Me June 7th episode – How to Take Responsibility for Your Body – and measure and log all calories. If I accomplish this I’ll be happy with myself.

Did I exercise for 20 minutes or more? Barely. I started getting a headache on the bus ride home from work (so many people....) and it just got worse, so I ended the day with about 30 minutes of walking all told.
Did I log everything? I did.
Did I stay within my calorie budget? Yep. I did that too.
Stretching. Something I need to do more often than I do. I disliked the yoga and body flow classes when I was taking them, because I'm not flexible and never really have been, but after I quit, it didn't take too long to realize that they actually had been helping. I need to start doing something again, even if it's just the simple stretches I remember from way back when.4 -

About stretching. In years past, I never used to stretch much. But as I've aged, I find that I HAVE to stretch -- that EVEN my walking is better, easier, when I stretch beforehand. And on days that I walk 8, 10, 12 miles - I have to stretch periodically throughout the day even AFTER I've come home and showered. Or I will stiffen up! These last 6 months or so I've tried to get better about having a morning stretching or yoga routine just to get the synovial fluid and my joints moving.... but I'm not very good about doing it in the morning like that. Thank you to @MizSpiffy and @WhatMeRunning for sharing your routines and ideas. I figure I need to start small and learn to enjoy it and then later I can work on building it up more.6 -

Thanks, but this happened 5 years ago. I was cautious and recovered well. I also learnt to fall properly after that to prevent future recurrences as my concussions came from martial arts throws.2 -
