WELCOME, as we walk into the second half of 2021!

We are about to begin our July Walk Challenge, so now is the time to start thinking about our new monthly challenge goals!

This group is open to any and all walkers. Many of us use Leslie Sansone Walk At Home DVD workouts, as well as those great walks or hikes outside on the trails or pathways that are available to us, or a walk in our neighborhood, and on the treadmill, as well as Walking or Exercise DVDs by other instructors to change things up or challenge us in different ways. All of these many options count toward our miles and minutes. However you get your walk on, come on in and join us! Post your miles or minutes that you have walked or how you exercised. However you do it... it is all good!

We are a happy, supportive group, and I assure you that joining this walk challenge will motivate, challenge, as well as inspire you and the rest of us!

Set your goal for how many miles or minutes that you want to walk, indoors or outside this month, as well as any other exercise, strength or staying active goals you might have. This is your own personal goal :star:. Post your results daily, weekly, or whenever you like.

If you find this challenge in the middle of the month it doesn't matter which day of the month that you join in. Just set your goals to reflect what you want to walk or exercise for the remaining days in the month. Please feel free to start today, so that by the end of the month you will be that much closer to your health goals. It is never too late to join in. You are always welcome :) !

It is always fun to read which DVD, whether Leslie or another instructor, that you used. Or whatever form your exercise/ workout took. So please share as we all love to gather new ideas for inspiration.

I know that we are always excited to see our long time faithful walking friends o:) as we come back for yet another amazing month together, and we are awaiting the opportunity to welcome newcomers to this month's Walk Challenge!

And now... let us lace up those walking shoes and get our water... as we begin to walk during July!

Walking together is always such fun...

I have to change things up as walking does not seem to be motivating me for some reason. I did not even make an average of 3 miles a day last month and that is not good for me. The COVID pounds are going, but if I do not get myself in gear, there is no guarantee that they will continue to be scared and leave and I need these pounds off by fall!!!

So, this month, I am not going to worry about miles or aerobic walking. However, I am going to focus on strength. On Sunday & Wednesday, I am going to do Firm 30 and on Friday, I am going to do the Upper and Lower Body segments of Tone Every Zone. I am planning to do a Leslie Walk on Tuesday and Saturday, but I'll just do one that I feel like doing with "no pressure." Hopefully, it will get me back on track for August as it tends to get cooler here by mid-August, the leaves start to change and I get energized by fall. Here's to success for everyone in July!!! My rest day is tomorrow so I'll "see" you all on the 2nd!

Goal: Firm 30 W & Su Tone Every Zone F Walk Choice T & Sa I'll track my mileage, but I have no mileage goal.

    Walk Strong Everyone!

    Wow, welcome to July!?!?!?!???!!

    July Goals

    90 miles tracked.
Apple watch challenge: Burn 17,000 calories this month. That's an average of 571 per day. (shakes fist at Apple)

I'm considering jumping back and trying to do Miracle miles again or some other program where things are already laid out and planned. My library recently got rid of late fees and auto-renew items for me so I could in theory have a DVD program from them long enough to complete the program.

Oh @Deeder522 You are doing so great!!! I did not even think of that!!! I have the Miracle Miles but I did not like them when I first got the DVD, but now it might be just what I need!!! I am going to go through them and if I am still having trouble this month, I might do all of them next month!!! Gotta give it to my Michigan peeps!!!! I miss my MI!!!! Hugs to GR!!

    Walk Strong!!!

@zichab Your plan looks good and well thought out! Sometimes changing things up is exactly what we need.

@Deeder522 Are apple challenges tailored to whatever personal information or goals etc that you programmed in to it? Just curious how they come up with the challenges. Or does everyone on that program get the same challenge?

My goal for this month will once again be to keep moving by using the rebounder, walking (mostly) indoors, using the Gazelle, or working outdoors 🌷 🐛.

July 1: 75 minutes: gazelle, inside walking, strength

It was another stressful week with a few highlights and some struggles around work and discussing options to get my family relocated with me. We are waffling about some things so I'm straddling my 2 lives. I didn't have alcohol all week until last night when I had 1 glass of red wine with my husband so that was good. (IT WAS DELICIOUS by the way) And the scale noticed and dropped to 130 so that felt good again. Headed back down FINALLY!

The last couple days my walks have been solid and I've been finishing the days at 10-12k steps which felt good up until yesterday. I do best when I get that walk done first thing in the morning but thats especially hard when I am driving back and forth between lives (and thus cleaning and packing in the am when I would be walking) or when I am working my 2nd job and need to be there early in the morning when I am home. There's just a lot going on right now.

    Baby steps to perfection :)

I even got a little jog in this week and that felt good. Thank you for all the love and support as I go through the new job process- it is a lot of learning new relationships, new information and new ways of working. I am hopeful I can start to see some successes this summer and demonstrate some new skills but its so scary to put yourself out there and do new things.

    Onward...

You are really doing great under a lot of stress. And that's a twofer because the exercise and eating well are fueling your walks which will sooth the soul too. It IS scary starting a new venture. As time goes on, you are going to learn a lot and show em' what ya got. And for sure when the move is done, that will be a great weight off your mind. It sounds like you have wonderful family support which is a true blessing.

I'm changing things up a bit this month. Going for two Pilates workouts a week as well as one yoga workout. I'm not throwing away my weights, just putting the emphasis on body weight exercising and see what results I get.

    6/1.....Rest Day
6/2.....Burn & Firm Pilates with Ellen Barrett

Honestly, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for the monthly challenges. It is different from person to person. I have 5 Watch friends and they all have a different monthly change than I do.
Some of it must be based on the metrics that it tracks. This month's challenge is a bit of a push, based on how many calories I burned last month. But I've also had super easy challenges like complete my rings 7 times in a month. It can vary.

@mypinkbikini Wow, you do have a lot going on and the proverbial keeping a lot of plates spinning at the same time. Cleaning and packing are still active and must be done, but definitely not as satisfying or as energizing as going on a good walk. I'm proud of how you are dealing with things such as moderating the alcohol during this stressful time. You go girl... you will soon be on the other side of this 💗🌼 .

@AnnofB What a good idea to really change things up!! Well done 🤸‍♀️👏!!

Morning! It's going pretty good. I'm not a big fan of "take it from the top" style workouts though. She has you do several exercises on one side then the other, then another whole set on both sides again. I like better how Leslie and Jessica Smith do their workouts, sort of "one and done" and move on. But, I'm really feeling I have done something and feel like I'm making progress, so... not going to stop now.

I just got 10 Minute Solution Pilates Perfect Body and will be trying it today.

Hope your Monday is going well!

I did tried to do one of the 5 workouts yesterday, but we had workers around the house and the power had to be turned off a few times, so a bit frustrating. It's a very fast moving workout of course cause she's cramming in a lot of exercises in a short time. So, it's going to take me a while to learn the routine.

Hmm. Not sure I would like that style either. I am always up to try new videos regardless. I've been popping all over YouTube trying different instructors. I must be picky, I have only found a couple that I like, but there are so many.

I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since I checked in with the group. It's been busy. This week I walked 4-5 miles every day except today. I am doing ok in my new job, just working hard and working long hours, so it works best when I get up in the morning and do walking before the day takes over. I went swimming last week in the pool for the first time and intend to go a few more times this summer but I'm just working a lot and havent had very many days off so I'm not going to beat myself up about that. I am going to celebrate my successes at my new job and reward myself with a new fit bit. My other one turns 2 next month and isn't holding its charge well (its the cheapest 69 dollar version) so a little upgrade will probably help me stay on track better when I'm not removing my watch to charge every other day and forgetting to put it back on.

good to see everyone getting along well. It may be another month or so in this job before I get to a place where I check in regularly again but I will keep walking and hope I can lose another 5-10 lbs over the course of the summer. It's been slow going the last few weeks and I'm hopeful things can fall in place for my family to move with me later this fall. Praying for it really. I think it's close. That will really help me emotionally to have them close every day.

Thinking of all of you even when I'm not here-

    July Goals

    75 / 90 miles tracked.
Apple watch challenge: Burn 13,393 / 17,000 calories this month. That's an average of 571 per day. (shakes fist at Apple)

I'm sidelined just a bit but I'm still chugging along. I think my heel spurs are acting up for the 1st time in years. So that and with some heavy heat & humidity in the air have slowed things just a bit.
Hard to believe this is the last week of July!
