How do I determine my calorie budget? In the beginning, I let MFP determine my calorie goal based on being "lightly active". Then recently, when I decided to put my calories up to "maintenance level", I slowly raised them each week, until I was no longer losing. Looking at the TDEE calculator that Chris linked in the opening post, I find that I'm not far off at all. I've also been plugging my numbers into the spreadsheet that @SummerSkier uploaded a few days ago and I'm liking it as well. (I am a spreadsheet nerd!)3 -

My calorie budget is based on my bmr; it’s 1,200. I sometimes eat exercise calories. It depends. I find it difficult to lose on anything above 1,200 calories. On 1,200 daily I will lose about 1-2lbs a month which is very slow. It’s also hard sticking to 1,200 calories a day so I do intermittent fasting on a few days a week where my calories will be lower but then that gives me room for higher calories on the weekends. Over a week it balances out to 1,200 daily.
This worked well for me for 6 months but I’ve been struggling since Thanksgiving. Once I cut the unnecessary carbs it will get easier but it’s just cutting them to start with that has been challenging.3 -
