So I did a little impromptu scientific research today and am here to share the results with you, my compatriots: contrary to what you may want to believe, consuming massive quantities of coconut milk ice cream immediately before going the gym does not, in fact, give you lifting superpowers. Studies have shown (well, really just this one study tonight...) that the sugar high will get you through your squats, and the sugar crash will occur as soon as you start your OHP. And you will fail miserably. As as an added bonus, the urge to vomit* will hit right around the time you start deadlifting!

In the spirit of academia, I do feel like it's necessary to examine all other factors that may or may not have contributed to today's failure. It is possible that my cheapness/laziness, which has prevented me from investing in fractionals, has finally caught up with me. After three workouts of feeling fairly comfortable at 65#, I finally forced myself to move up to 70#. So I suppose that failure was, if not inevitable, at least foreseeable.

The only other explanation I can come up with is that I ate Chocolate coconut milk ice cream, but that all the lifting superpower is in the Peanut Butter Swirl. Hmmm....

*I promise that I didn't actually puke; I just wanted to.

This made me chuckle. But I will vouch for peanut butter anything as a pre-workout snack!

I also really needed a laugh and this was good for it ;)

    Very cleverly written
  • LOL! But but but don't you need at least 40 data points to come to a credible conclusion? Maybe if you try it again next workout it will be completely different and awesome!

But what hypothesis were you testing, and what were your predictions?
