Went live on my T:Slim today! It's about time too! Man, that nearly two weeks of it sitting on my desk was driving me crazy! Just sitting there and not able to do anything with it had me in tears a couple of times...lol. But we got it started. It was great that my sugar was 109 this morning when I woke up, surprising since I only took 5u of my Levemir rather than the normal 11. By the time we got the profile set up and all my settings figured my sugar was 209, which was a good start. We have it set right now for .5u/hr basal, and my standard I:C ratio (16 am, 20 lunch, 16 dinner), my target for now is set at 150 and we have the sensitivity set at 1:100. I did get a bit annoyed this afternoon because I told them because of my gastro that I normally take my shot an hour to an hour and a half after I finish my meal, otherwise I go low, then have to correct and then spike up when my food starts to digest. They didn't want me starting out using the extended bolus yet which was fine, but they wanted me to take my lunch bolus a half hour after my meal. So, even after telling them I would go low, they still wanted me to so I did. And what do you know, I started to go low and had to suspend my basal for 2 hours before getting back up over 100. I wasn't nervous since it's not the first time I have been on a pump. I was nearly 10 years ago when I was pregnant with Lee, and for a couple months when I was a senior.in high school. My only concern is during the night since I do not have a CGM yet (going to start that process Sept. 9). Josh already has his alarms on his phone set to wake up every hour to check to see if I'm sweating or signs of me going low, and then a 3am sugar. I already feel better, more confidence and not so discouraged about my sugars even though I know they will roller coaster for a bit. I'm just glad I have it now so I can really work on getting it under control since Josh and I want to try and have a baby, and I told him I wouldn't even think of it till I had a pump again since Cory has so many problems because I didn't have one and sugars in the 6 and 700's the entire pregnancy. Thanks for all the support and congrats, I really love this group and how supportive everyone is. Before I never really talked with anyone about my diabetes because I resented it so much all these years and only have one friend who is diabetic that I went to Camp Floyd Rogers (diabetic camp for kids) when I was first diagnosed. I think that being able to talk about it more with people who understand my struggles and frustrations makes dealing with it much easier... I will keep everyone updated on how things are going throughout the week.

So good to go live! Just wait till you get your CGM -that will be a whole new learning curve! I'm glad I went live with the dexcom G4 before I did the t-slim. Amazing how much more info you get with the cgm. I had to change up the way I timed and ate my meals vs when I bolused. It made a big difference in my A1C once I did. You will get there. You know your self and the way you respond, be sure to stick up for what you know works for yourself! Just because they have the degree does not mean they know what Will work for you. Do your homework.
Have you read Pumping Insulin by John Walsh? it's a better reference that a lot of CDE's and should be among your prized possessions!0
