Wow, it's late and only Bob is up?
Talked to parish secretary yesterday yesterday, and she's bringing my concerns to their monthly meeting, which happens to be tonight. Only asking they put signs around saying that CDC recommends masks indoors, because we are now in an area of high transmission. Pastor wants to wait for the bishop's orders, who wants to not impose, because the rules vary from town to town in his region. Bureaucracy everywhere...
Afterward I drove to Mt. Wachusett and climbed the direct route up again. A short hike, but steep, with 550 or so stairs built of rocks. Trail was a sheet of solid ice or packed snow the whole way, and the "stairs" were more like a ramp, all filled in with flowing ice. Used the spikes of course. Always a great workout.
Decided to build a homemade "piano lifter", based on plans from a guy in UK. Uses a wormgear-driven hand-winch bolted onto an upright 2x6 to raise one end of a piano, to slip a dolly under it. He says he's moved 200 pianos with his gizmo... all by himself.
Have a good day, men.0 -
Good morning!
Just getting settled into the office. The bell will go off in about 10 minutes. I use this time to get organized for the day.
Buttasscold this morning. It was like 8 when I walked Frankie.
A lot going on today, including the owner of the company coming in for a visit. Ugh.
Have a great day!0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Our fog isn't quite freezing, here in Tumwater, but we're in the same weather pattern as Bob. I'll take it; it isn't raining.
Rita had a small cyst removed from her lower eyelid, yesterday, requiring two small stitches and leaving her with a black eye. Sassy wants to help, with her version of first aid, but her licks are not welcome.
Pulling the trigger on a hollowing system for my lathe, today. Kind of expensive, but I have the money set aside and I have studied various options to death. Time to make it happen. It will allow me to turn larger and deeper hollow forms.

Mornin' gents.
Hope the surgeon didn't make poor Rita wear the cone of shame. New tools are the best.
Mike, you are the king of doohickeys. I love it.
Up at 4:20 to let dogs out and then back to bed for another 50 minutes. Had to finish up to medical records from yesterday and forgot to check in.
25 degrees here this morning. That I can handle.
Be OP ;-)0 -
Good Morning
Mike, I never tire of hearing of your latest adventures after watching some Youtube videos. A homemade piano lifter. We will need pictures of this one.
Dave, I can't wait to see what treasures come out of the new lathe attachment.
It turns out I don't have Covid after a second negative test. Heather hasn't gotten her results but feels ready to get back to work and anticipates being negative after last week's positive. Yesterday's testing was a bit of adventure when the drive-thru in Fremont was not to be found and calling them put you on eternal hold with the scheduling department. We ended up getting tested here in a pop-up with a Genetics company in the back in their warehouse. Wore me out. Calling the doc to see what he thinks and see if I can get this weird flu-like but not flu-like thing turned around. One positive, I am getting a lot of sleep. I shall try to do some work today with whatever energy I can sustain.0 -
Beautiful day here, down hill balance of week, no rain just cold for next week
Subbed at school then took Toad out for a few miles and filled gas tank. DS picking up tonight and will have at detailer early in morning
There are lots of folks around here with congestion but testing negative for COVID
Dave, we might as well enjoy the fruits of our labor while we can0
