My depression is setting in.. I have been strict on my diet for a week in a half, and have been good about my exercise, yet the scale keeps climbing up. I am 3.6 pounds away from being 200 pound. Wow, that's a scary number. 199.9 sounds better. I am on the verge of tears, and thinking about gaining an eating disorder (kidding, I love food too much). I know I've gained some muscle but not that much in such a short period of time. Any suggestions, or any one going through this too? This is such a crappy feeling.

A few things:
1) if you've bumped up your exercise a lot, especially if you have added in any strength training, your muscles actually initially retain fluids. It can take a few weeks for that to clear out. Don't let it discourage you.
2) Are you tracking your sodium? If not, do it for a day and make sure you're in the 2000-2500 range.
3) Are you measuring your food - food scale preferably?
4) Are you writing down every thing you put in your mouth? You might grab a few nuts every time you walk by the bowl not realizing at the end of the day you've had 300 calories worth of cashews.
5) Don't give up.0
