    Memorial service with food
The Birthday Brunch for my dad’s bday
Not a good day- no tracking

Inner thighs are sore. The Quest 2 tricked me into side slide jumps AND quite a few fast squats!!! All while having fun❣️❣️❣️
Forced myself not to do it today in the hope all will heal by tomorrow. Took an hour walk instead with my hugs and who has been too busy to do so for quite a while. Really fun!

A very warm welcome to new member @Lmercado441! Please let us know what your first goal is and the habit will be working on. We have a new discussion thread each month and I’ll have September’s thread up no later than Sept 1st.

@jamcnewman, I also love your “I am statement” I’ll start adding that to our monthly challenges starting in September. As Maddie mentioned, it really is a powerful tool for changing our habits and behavior. I see myself as a walker, so naturally I walk every day. It’s who I am.

But the extension is even more powerful. Want to adopt a new habit? Focus on seeing yourself and becoming someone who does the action steps of someone with that identity. As @jamcnewman is doing, “I am a planner who pre-tracks her daily food consumption.”

James Clear‘s blog post on the subject is a very worthwhile read:

The Quest 2 is worth every dollar!
My grown son (visiting) and I loaded it up, and had a blast learning how it works, taking hilarious videos of each other as we each took turns…we laughed & laughed & laughed!

I am totally hooked! The arm/shoulder I broke in 2018 is complaining a little this AM but I’m hopeful these movements will make it stronger over time!

Absolutely mind blowing experience. The toughest part will be not doing it too much, ie giving my body time to build strength. :)

@MadisonMolly2017, Maddie, this makes me SO HAPPY! It has also been a game changer for me. And as you said, it’s so much fun that you forget that you’re exercising. What app(s) are you using? I use Supernatural VR and I love it. It is subscription based, but I found it very worthwhile. I use it almost every day and there are new workouts posted daily. Every type of music genre imaginable so there’s something for everyone.

I have a 30 day passes for anyone who has an Oculus and would like to try Supernatural. DM me if interested.

If you are intrigued, but also thinking: “I have no idea what you are talking about, Denise”, this blog post is very helpful:

Also Google Supernatural VR videos. And no, it has nothing to do with the TV show.

There is a 60,000 person official Facebook site for Supernatural VR fans. It’s a very welcoming community. What got me hooked was post after post after post after post of people saying, “I never could stick with exercise until I found Supernatural.”

Success days are noted with a heart ♥️ and any missed opportunities with a 👎🏻

Some wobbly moments as I needed the phone alarm prompt to get me on track. My focus for tomorrow and the remaining days of the month is to populate the same meal the following day once I am updating the “actual”.

    Thanks everyone for your encouragement!

    1. My goal for the rest of this month (This August I will...")
For the rest if August, I am clearing out an old filing cabinet

    2. The small actions I am taking to accomplish this goal
    a) Sort and declutter papers for 10 minutes.
    b) Store essential papers; shred/bin the rest
    3. The trigger or cue to remember to do my habit.
    Reminder on phone.
    4. How often am I doing my new August habit (daily is best if possible)

This is taking more time than expected. I am planning to extend into September

Wow — did I ever learn a lot doing that. 📝🧐🤔 I am keeping at it for September, as my wobbles — evidenced by resisting or not wanting to complete the task — are signs to me that it isn’t yet anchored.

I have always known that pre-tracking works really well for me. I have used it successfully on and off during this past year, but only for a few days when trouble was “looming”, when I knew I had an event I wanted to be sure to accommodate, or to influence my increase in protein intake. Now I know I need to do it as an every day habit.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement! Wishing everyone a great September. Can’t wait to see your healthy habit choices for the month ahead.

I think mine will be pre-tracking and I will do a #WalkingTowardsFall daily intentional mindfulness activity. I have done this 21 day challenge in the lead up to each season change for the past year. It causes me to get outdoors — every day, regardless of weather — listen to the sounds around me (no headphones), and focus on being at peace rather than on speed or distance.

I don’t have the empty filing cabinet yet, cut the files are slowly emptying. I am taking this as my September Habit.

Did pretty well with my habits in Aug.. I think for Aug my biggest accomplishment habits wise is my consistent ability to keep myself grounded, my resilience, my attitude and really just allowing myself to enjoy life despite going through a restructure at work!!! It is that exact attitude that allowed me to keep my job. Yay to me!!!Lastly in the last week of August I hve let go of trying to keep my weight at a specific number which i found very difficult to do and and instead am focusing on a 2 to 4 kgs window to maintain.. Feels great to finally just be comfortable with where I am at...
