60º overnight here, and clear and dry. I went out after dark and drove to the nearby state park to look at the stars... something I haven't done for years, other than casually on camping trips. The world's affairs may be all mixed up these days, but the stars are all still where they are supposed to be. Reassuring.

Piano class in a couple hours. Teacher wants me to explain to the class what I did to fix the piano he uses in the next town in the Senior Center; his students there were very pleased to hear the notes again, which had been muffled because a piece of felt was loose and lodged between the hammers and strings. (I glued it back in place.) Show-and-tell.

I went for a 4 mile hike yesterday and around mile-3 felt a sharp twinge in my upper back, for no apparent reason. Whole rest of the day it kept hurting every time I looked up or turned my head far left or right, or took a deep breath. What the heck? It's a little better this morning. I have a physical in a few weeks...

    Have a good day everyone.

    Good morning gentlemen.

Sound advice, Sam. I have become adept at pretending to enjoy things.

All packed, for the most part. I'll drop Sassy off at the pet lodge, today. Feeling some pangs about that. I have become very close with that dog. While she loves everyone, there is no doubt in anyone's mind about who her No. 1 is.

We head out first thing in the morning. We will go first to DDIL's sister's place in Seattle. She, in turn, will drive us to the pier and drop us off. She will reverse the process when we arrive back in Seattle a week from Saturday.

Food discipline will be a challenge on this trip. I will attempt to taste many things, without piling up large portions of anything. I'll weigh in the morning and again on return, and we'll see how it goes.

    Good morning!

I was surprised to see that I have been AWOL for a day or two.

Mike, that is so awesome what you are doing with the piano tuning.

Dave, I hope that you have a wonderful cruise.

I found out a couple of days ago that the carpet that we thought would be installed late September would be installed TODAY. So, I have spent the last couple of evenings getting everything out of our bedroom. I start reversing that process tonight. Last night we slept on the mattress on the floor. I pulled the mattress out of the bedroom and put it in the living room before I left for work. Connie just got to get up at dark thirty for a change. The carpet guys were at the house just before 8:00 and they were done and gone by 9:30. Woot! Too many home improvement projects!

Work has been equally as busy. I am very much looking forward to a long holiday weekend!

    Have a great day!

    Good Morning

It sounds like you had a relaxing evening after work Steve and another this evening, but it is done and over with until Connie finds the next thing.

    Safe travels Dave!

Another stretch of triple digit heat is starting up today as our multiyear drought continues. I will head out now and soak everything in the ground and hope that does the trick. Yesterday I did the containers. We didn't walk this morning since Heather didn't sleep well. I will do a walk-in-place DVD workout instead to keep the cardio streak going. Today is my first WI since refocusing on my nutrition. Should be 4-5lbs unless the scale is cruising for a bruising.

Yup good luck and safe travels for sure Dave. We are probably only having 2 days in a row in the 90°+s incl one day officially @ 100 deg at the Portland Airport. Today might be 89° at our house instead of 90° and tomorrow a degree or two cooler.
Alaska is the only place I would do something like a cruise. Even then I think we might do the ferry from place to place route instead of staying aboard a vessel. We did a day long "cruise" out of Seward which was delightful. Saw lots of wildlife and calving small "icebergs" from glaciers etc.
