    Good morning gentlemen.

Running into a hassle trying to find a glaucoma specialist. I have been seen in the Army hospital forever, but my doctor, there, has retired. I had an appointment at a civilian clinic and that doctor decided to move to California. Nearest other doctor I can find is 50 miles away. So, I am turning to the VA. I applied for a primary care manager, and then for a referral to ophthalmology, where they have someone who does glaucoma. I hope this works out. In the past, I was seen every six months, and it has been 14 months, now.

    Mornin' gents.

    Fingers crossed for you, Dave.
So Sunday morning grouse hunt in the Green Mountains of Vermont was a 6 mile odyssey of bushwhacking through pretty dense new growth and clambering over fallen trees and rotting logs.
My fitbit almost blew up with zone minutes (384), and I fatigued and had to stop and rest several times. There were only a few deer trails and my guide had me ignore them, his theory was that grouse do not follow deer trails. We did flush a lot of grouse and both my guide and I got one apiece, but boy was it a rough go.
    I'll gladly do it again.

    Be OP ;-)

Lee, every time I hear of grouse hunting it takes me back to my first tour in Alaska, in the 1970s. We'd hunt for grouse on the road (gravel, about 60 miles south of the Arctic Circle). We didn't have enough shotguns to go around. When we spotted a grouse on the side of the road, one hunter, armed with a .22 would shoot the bird on the ground (legal in Alaska), while the others, armed with shotguns, would take the other birds in the flock that flew up. The daily bag limit was something like 15 grouse per hunter. Three species - blue, spruce and ruffed grouse - lived in close proximity, so our camp supper would come from a mixed bag. Fun times.

    Good Morning

    384 zone minutes....that's rather impressive.

Morning walking is continuing. My knee isn't loving it. I need to schedule an appt to get it shot up and try to squeeze one more year out of it till we move. Checking in with the Nutrition dept at the hospital in a few minutes to see how I am doing. I had a decent month with 8+ lbs gone. Consistency of effort is my battle, but I keep plugging away. Daily walking helps keep me focused on task.
