🌎️Week #5 Saturday, October 29 - Friday, November 5🌎️
✈️DESTINATION - The Independent State Of Samoa - 6,000 Miles & 10 Minutes of Happiness & Meal Planning
The challenge begins on Saturday morning. Exercise & 10 Minutes of Happiness & Meal Planning done before SATURDAY DOES NOT COUNT!!!!
Hawaii is a very desirable Pacific island vacation destination, absolutely stunning. But let’s consider Samoa, another tropical archipelago. Samoa is a small island country in the central South Pacific Ocean, 2,600 miles southwest of Hawaii. They both have similar climates and temperatures in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s, but Soma is much less populated, and one of the least-developed islands in the Pacific. Native Samoans and Hawaiian are both Polynesians; and they share many similar cultural traditions.
Like Hawaii, Samoa has long sandy beaches, palm tree-lined roads, coral reefs, volcanos, mountains, lava fields, blow holes, waterfalls, and marine life. You can enjoy sightseeing, surfing, bicycling, snorkeling, fishing, lazy beach days and breathtaking scenery.
Samoan is a truly pristine piece of nature, full of astonishing sights that are still largely undiscovered by the wider public. We can seek out wilderness and empty beaches.
Let's enjoy things that make Samoa so special. We'll take in a Fia Fia night, which is a traditional celebration. It includes an authentic meal baked in a ground oven, singing, music, graceful Polynesian dancing and an exciting acrobatic fire show.
Samoans strive to preserve the fa‘a Samoa (“Samoan way of life”), and it's warm friendly culture. Most live in rural coastal villages and live off the land and sea. You will see fales, the Samoan word for ‘a traditional house’. They are open-air bungalows with thatched roofs on wooden poles. They have no permanent walls but have blinds you can roll down to provide extra shelter. You can rent a small fale right on the beach.
There is the shell of Lava Church, which was an old church that was directly in the path of the lava flow from the massive eruption of Mt Matavanu in 1905. Explore the lava field and the church, and see where the lava field ran into the ocean.
Savai'i is the only places in the world where you can swim with endangered green turtles, in captivity before they're tagged and released. At the Satoalepai Turtle Sanctuary, juvenile turtles are raised from infancy and then released into the wild, where they can grow up to 400 pounds.
To-Sua Ocean Trench is one of the most unique swimming holes in the world. It is an ocean trench, more of a sinkhole, and has stairs leading down to the water.
Go to a viewpoint atop an active volcano and you can see half of Samoa; then explore the underground lava tubes that go underneath.
With winter on the horizon it's a wonderful destination!

📝Living the Good Life - 10 Minutes of Happiness & Meal Planning
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves to smile and be happy. We may think that when we reach our goal weight we will be happy. But research shows that being happy helps us lose weight - we will eat less and move more. A happy person enjoys a healthier lifestyle and makes better food choices, by treating life as a source of pleasure. This week try to limit the news, and consciously spend at least 10 minutes a day to make yourself happy. With happiness you can achieve more of your goals. Enjoy the wonders of positive emotions both before and after succeeding in your efforts!
Put aside your worries and live in the moment for 10 minutes a day. When you smile, you can actually feel better right away. Be creative to find your happiness. Do something that makes you smile or laugh. Switch to lively music and dance around the kitchen, play an instrument, sing a song, play with the puppy, discover laughter yoga, watch a comedy, google jokes, chat with an uplifting friend. Add exercise that is fun. Aerobic exercises have been proven to reduce anxiety and depression - jog, swim, cycle, walk, garden, dance, etc. Find your own connection between happiness and good health.
Synonyms and words related to happy - blissful, delighted, gratified, joyous, pleased, satisfied, thankful, tickled, beaming, cheery, lighthearted, sunny, upbeat, contented, ecstatic, smiley, thrilled, jolly, jubilant
Other things that can keep you happier - good time management so you are not rushed, cheerful people, fun things to do, living in the moment, keeping a balanced perspective about life, playful attitude, treat others well, regular exercise, etc.
