Good morning!
We are expecting light snow today. Wednesday, the temp is expected to remain in the single digits and we are expecting heavy snow Wednesday into Thursday. Oh joy! The weather dude was showing three nights in a row with -5 for the temp. He said that wind chills are expected to remain below zero for at least 72 hours. Again, oh joy!
My arthritis is really acting up. I did manage to get a lot of smaller tasks completed this weekend.
My treadmill is broken and I need to call to get a replacement video screen. With that screen out, it is not possible to use the machine. Sigh....
Have a great day!0 -
That's cold weather, Steve, and with the treadmill on the fritz you'll have to be creative. I used to do stair climbing workouts at work when I couldn't go out or had no access to exercise machines--worked in an 8 story building.
Sam, that fire ... horrendous. Most folks have no idea what firemen go through, routinely. (Not a hoarder, but also motivates me more to finish decluttering. )
I never got out for a hike yesterday. I got caught up in reformatting the x-mas song I wrote--the software is very awkward--and then explored copyrighting. Got booted out 3 times from the antiquated U.S. gov't website, but eventually did file an application for copyright. Now they'll get back to me in 3 months, after they check it for originality. If you send it by mail it's 9 months. "Working at the speed of government." I checked it on an app called Shazam that listens to music and compares it to millions of songs in under a minute.
Today I will go for a long hike somewhere, anywhere. Right after breakfast. Nothing on the calendar till this evening.0 -
Mornin' gents.
Happy belated birthday, Mike. Sounds like you have some serious bragging rights on those grand kids.
Love hearing about them. Your talents know no bounds. Song writing too?
That is buttasscold, Steve. When it is that cold, you must have some warmer humid air moving in to give you a decent snow. Your temperature swings are brutal. I would never have expected that kind of temperature range in KC area. I grew up in Tulsa, and we rarely saw single digits or temps higher than 95 degrees.
Sam, that fire was bad. Sorry to hear about the boy and the loss of the father. Praying for your DS.
The pernil and arroz con gandules was a success. Oven at the club is an old gas vulcan that does not heat evenly so the high heat finish wasn't perfect. Girls got in a lot fun time this weekend and I got in some really good walking and with fat burning zone minutes.
I am working hard to keep my total calories per day day under 2400 and get 10K steps at least 5 days a week. I find I need extra pain management on my super active days. I am still feeling soreness in my hands after pulling maintenance on the tractor and switching out the mowing deck for the snow thrower a week later.
Managing pain with tylenol ER and breathing is good, Bill. You still on an nsaid?
Am glad that you have family and Sassy, Dave. Lots to love and keep you busy. Hope your can control the lower back pain, because that can create or add to depression.
Be OP ;-)

Good Morning
Happy Belated Birthday Mike! You are amazing.
Heading home from Wisconsin this morning. Single digit temps this morning made my joy complete. Pain levels are back to manageable so hopefully no extra pills to get home. I am glad we came. I don’t think there will be many more opportunities with Mom. I may bring my Sons back in the spring for another quick visit.
I did get to smile when my sister said La Guadia airport showing her NY accent. Music to my ears.0 -
Good Morning,
Cold for south but getting colder this weekend,
Hope everyone has a great day, shopping days are limited; hope delivery comes through with my purchases; I refuse to go to malls and big box stores.
Off to yoga0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Cold seems the universal description, today, though at varying degrees. Our high should be 34, today, with snow flurries all afternoon. Not much accumulation expected. I'd bundle up and take a walk, Steve, but I'm crazy that way - and have the cold-weather clothes to support it.
Took a couple Tylenol PMs last night and got a solid 7 hours. That is rare for me. Feel better this morning. I'll try to get some exercise, today, too. That helps.
Sam, the malls at Christmas are not the madhouse we remember. I was in one a few days back and was struck by how few people were there. Most people do their shopping online. Now me; I want to hold my purchase in my hand and look at it, if I can, before buying. And I prefer to make my purchases from local merchants.0 -
Steve, thanks for the calf stretching tips. I will try that and hopefully it'll help get rid of the swelling.
Forgot to mention, I figured out why I've been so tired and sluggish lately. Was even having trouble concentrating in early piano classes, and was dozing off mid-day. I realized this morning I've been using a new coffee scoop (for months), which I thought held 4 tablespoons but only holds 2. Coffee tasted flat, but I figured it was the brand. Made a real difference today. So I guess I've been running on half a tank...0
