Gentle rain all night. In the forties this morning.
Packing up for a deer hunting trip down in Virginia. Would like some venison in the freezer. Dogs are coming with me so that all DW has to do is take care of the cat, who she loves, and the Maltese that outlived DMIL, who she hates (she hates the dog).
Ina Garten's bake shop did a knock out job on DW's birthday coconut cake. Ordered through Goldbelly. We use to have a bake shop in the little town we practice in that produced the perfect coconut cake for DW, but the baker move on, and we have been trying to find a facsimile for over 2 years. A couple have come close, and I even tried my hand, but Ina Garten's cake hit the mark.
We did take out from a local restaurant last night. I had a glass of a cab that was a left over bottle from Christmas and I confirmed the suspicion that I had the day after Christmas, that the Cabernet cause me to have a bit of a psoriatic arthritis flare. This is disappointing, since I do enjoy a red wine periodically. I will have to see if the lighter Pinot Noir, that I drink most, will have a similar effect.

Congrats to your wife, Lee. Sounds like a nice celebration. Hope you get some venison in VA. The deer season in MA is over and done now-- I feel a little safer in the woods now.
Finally dragged myself out and hiked Mt. Wachusett yesterday afternoon, peak was all fogged in, could barely see across the top. Weather has cleared this morning, but temps staying 50's, and even 60's later in week.
Church this morning, then a wake this afternoon. Will try to drop off some more family Christmas presents along the way.

Good morning and Happy New Year!
Dave, the dust collection system sounds awesome. Not only will it help your lungs, but it will help keep everything cleaner.
Bill, praying for your health. I'm so sorry that you have COVID again.
Sam, have you been feeling OK?
It was almost 70 yesterday and the day before. A week ago, the wind chill was -35. That feels like a 100 degree swing. It is not normal. My arthritis does not like those swings.
Nothing special today. Lots of chores and grocery shopping. Chiefs this afternoon. I'm making a chicken recipe for tonight that Connie Likes. It is not really weight watcher friendly. Senora Chicken from Ruby Tuesday's. It is a knockoff recipe that I have not tried.
Have a great day!0 -
Happy New Year,
Sam just needs to slow down and learn how to say no
Have started using a pinch of baking soda in coffee, takes bitterness out and seems to help arthritis a little,
GA barely pulled out a win 3 seconds into new year.
Pecan pie is out of oven and sweet potatoes cooking for casserole
Will strip collards, skin hog jowl
DD and DsonIL invited themselves for New Year's lunch. Usually, we have about 15 or 16 for New Year's lunch, just did not want to put forth the effort. They will get DGS and maybe we will get a little rest before routine starts back tomorrow.
Pray all have a healthy and blessed 2023!0 -
Good Morning
Sounds like a nice celebration Lee.
We had our family Christmas celebration such as it was yesterday. I stayed at the far end of the living room wearing a mask, Heather and Pat at the other end also masked while we exchanged gifts at a leisurely pace. It was hard for me not having my other son here since next Christmas we will be in Oregon and we don't think he will routinely make the drive to Oregon for Christmas. My wife and son did a great job on our prime rib dinner which I also enjoyed in isolation. But my sore leg/knee is beginning to calm down and I can get around alot better. Covid symptoms are disappearing as well. Just a slight cough. I may do a test later today to see if this Rebound Covid is of short duration. Little is known about it at this point and you have to be careful what you read. Heather will need to test before she can report to work. They provided some home test kits for her. More resting today. Now that I have energy I am beginnin to go a bit stir crazy.0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
A happy new year to you all.
I enjoyed both playoff games yesterday. I don't have a dog in the fight, but it is easy to root against the Big 10, so I was pleased with the outcomes.
Glad you are feeling better, Bill.
I mounted an expandable 4-inch hose to the dust collector, yesterday. I still need the attachments to hook the hose to my power tools. The hose is interesting, it extends from 4 to 24 feet. Handling it is like dealing with a giant Slinky. I will be able to get to every tool in my shop with it, though. A lot easier than installing rigid piping all over the shop.
Church, this morning, Seahawks afternoon. We're going out to dinner with DS and family, then bringing the grandkids home for the night. Tomorrow is a grandkids day. They go back to school on Tuesday.0 -
Aw Bill rebound "covid". That's no way to start the New Year. Glad to hear your knee/leg is doing better. Exciting playoff games yesterday. Gosh Michigan blew it I think 3 times inside the 2 yard line. No dog in the fight but enjoyed the outcomes.
Happy New Year all!!0
