It's important to recognize that success isn't just about the number on the scale. Let's celebrate those victories that show our progress in non-scale ways.

I thought I'd share this as an NSV. As I mentioned somewhere in another post, my weakness is alcohol. I don't consider myself and alcoholic, but i have been a heavy drinker for a long time and this year, I decided to give it up completely because its the one thing that really derails my healthy lifestyle, its expensive and I don't need it. Well, today I was in the grocery store and my favorite beer was on sale for the lowest price I have seen it in a long while. For a fleeting second, the thought crossed my mind that I should buy it, but then I remembered my new year's resolution and I told myself that I don't drink anymore and I walked on. I'm proud of making that good choice today and I hope I will continue to make good choices in the future.

I went shopping today at a department store to find a suit jacket because I have an interview coming up on Thursday. I was pretty encouraged because some of the regular sizes (XL) shirts fit me! I ended up getting a 14W jacket. I was also pretty excited that the clothes that were in the plus size section of the store were the same styles as in the regular sizes! I remember not too long ago being discouraged because it seemed like the only thing you could get in the plus size section were big flower printed clothes that looked like potato sacks. I recall thinking why do fashion designers make clothes so ugly for big women. We want the same cute styles, just in our size! Well, I think they are headed in the right direction. The question also occurred to me: why are these clothes in separate sections? Why don't they just put all the sizes 0-4XXX in the same section? Does anyone else feel a little body shamed by this segregation? One step at a time, I guess. At least today, I was happy to find some cute clothes in my size!

I put my pajama pants on tonight and they felt a little looser than in the recent past. I love that feeling when your pants start to feel loose. Its such an encouraging feeling!
