    Good morning!

Six degrees out as I type this. We have not been above freezing for several days now. We are supposed to get to that today, maybe. Horrible ice storms further down south. Stay warm, Sam!

I'm still cranking away on year-end. Several tax deadlines today, and I'm not sure that I am going to make them all. It will be close.

Dave, I hope that you had an awesome hike.

    Have a great day!

Rise and shine, men. Lightly snowing here, 25º. No coffee in the pantry, might do a predawn raid on the DD drive-thru.

Last summer in the heat I often got up before dawn, hit the drive-thru on the way to a hike while it was still cool out. Not a bad strategy, although I'd get their breakfast sandwiches--not real nourishing.

Progress on decluttering: DSIL will take 6 lead batteries and 2 chargers off my hands, to use with his clay pigeon launcher. Have 8 cement blocks and some bricks if anyone needs those will put in mail.

Liking the secondhand e-piano I got Saturday; picked up a stand for it and fitted the music rest I have to fit. Waiting for the patchcord to fix the scratchy sounds and echoes in its electronics. Key weight and tension feel exactly like a real piano.

Bill, good luck at your eye appointments...

Dave, how did the hike go?

Steve, keep chugging on Y-E closing.

    Mornin' gents.

Light snow here as well. Might hit -5 overnight here this Friday, but won't stay there for long.
I think you might need to send those blocks/bricks by frieght, Mike.
Avocado toast with bacon is pretty good at DD. Just FYI.
Eureka. Isn't there a secret lab for the DOD in that town?

    Be OP ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

It was fun getting out for a hike. Distressing how poor my fitness level is, though. I did 12 miles, with 1,000 feet of climbing - some on crusty snow - and I was really tired. I need to hike more to bet back into shape.

I got home to find the kitchen in disarray. Rita found a slow leak under the sink that had started to buckle a bit of the oak flooring. She had it all dried out and was running a hair dryer under the cabinet. I applied my limited plumbing skills and failed to stop the leak, so I called a plumber, who will be over tomorrow to look at it. I think we need a new supply line valve. I have replaced those before on a copper line, but this one is tied into Pex, and I know nothing about the connection. Hence the plumber.

I have no idea what DD is.

Still pretty chilly here - 29 degrees - so I will turn the heater on in the shop before I head out. I am finishing a bowl made from a piece of mystery wood I picked up at a club meeting. I think it's hard maple, from appearance and how it turns.

    Good Morning

We left the chill up north behind us, though people were talking about how cold it had gotten as we drove down from Eureka. We left at a good time and got home by 4pm. We are moving on from the trip and focusing on a busy 2 weeks prior to surgery. We need to get back to normal eating. Today after tutoring I have an appointment with my Primary Care were he has to certify there are no reasons I can't have surgery. Somewhere there is lawyer involved in this process. Gotta be.

I also have some bricks I can add to Mike's pile. Maybe the truck can swing by and pick them up, 'cause they gotta go. Sounds like it all would make a great foundation for a new outdoor grill.

Mystery wood....brings to mind Mystery Meat

...DD is short for Dunkin Donuts.

I liked Dunkin Donuts back in the days when they had the dunking donut - a cake donut with a little handle on the side to make it easier to dunk in your coffee. Almost all their stores closed down in the Northwest years ago. Haven't seen one in a long while.
