    Good morning!

We had freezing rain here last night. The deck is super slick, and the grass crunches. It is supposed to get up to 48 today. We'll see. It was 10 again when I took the dog out.

Bill, I'm glad that you are starting to make progress on your knee. Your last report was sounding more positive.

Connie turns 65 on Monday. Since I'm still working, she is only taking the Medicare part A for now. With our regular insurance, we probably won't use her Medicare, is my hope, since that is hospitalization.

I spoke alone with the owner of the company for about 15 minutes yesterday. He spent over an hour with his son-in-law the president. I don't know what details they went into, other than that there was no yelling and the president was nice to me after their meeting. I hope there is not continued no action being taken. Meanwhile, I put another $225k on the line of credit yesterday.

Since Connie's birthday is Monday, I will see what she might want to do this weekend. Although this is her 65th, she does not want family, a party, or anything. She just wants to go out to dinner with Collin and I on Monday evening. She wants to go to Longhorn Steakhouse. I got her a cedar arbor for the back yard, and a $400 Citizen watch. Since she has been retired from full-time work for 8 years now, that isn't meant to be a retirement watch.

    Have a great day!

8º here this morning. Will go for a walk later, and then to DGS birthday (5!) in Lunenburg. They gave their dog Maple to a friend because Danny is allergic to it--sick with colds and respiratory stuff quite often--but they visit now and then. Bought GS a stuffed Snoopy toy and a Snoopy cocoa mug.

Heard rumors of 13"-19" of snow coming in a few days, with NE winds. We shall see.

Doing some overdue floor scrubbing this morning (at least I've decluttered enough to see the floor.)

Bill, you'll make it. You're a real trooper, as they say.

Indeed as Dave says Portland got hammered with snow for such an unprepared bunch. Over 140 buses stranded in the storm, Lots of abandoned cars in places. 100 buses have been recovered. I live on a small street atop a hill and it is still mostly all covered in snow. The freeways and big arterials are much better but one needs to get there. I hiked around the neighborhood yesterday in my Yaktrax covered boots.
Ash Wednesday was cancelled at Resurrection Lutheran Church and most other churches too. I amused myself looking at all the cancellations scrolling on the TV screen crawler like "Little Feet pre-school cancelled, Little Genius cancelled...scroll"

I am hoping that things work out for you Steve since your talk with the owner.

Gosh Bill I have heard that knees are often difficult to heal up. Baby steps for sure and sending my prayers your way.

Speaking of frozen tundra, well not quite that cold but 17 degrees right now which is ridiculous for this late in a typical February. My son is in Winthrop WA where it got down to about 3 degrees below zero yesterday. Winthrop I found out holds the record for coldest temperature in state of Washington at -48°F YIKES!! set in 1968 48 below zero. It is suppose to warm up before we go there in a week to highs in the upper 30s and cold in the 20s.
Stay warm and get better all.

    Good morning gentlemen.

Well, we can't match single digits, but it's 19 degrees in Tumwater, this morning. Now Sam will log on and tell us it has cooled all the way to 70, in Georgia.

We have the grandkids all day, today. We're taking them with us for some errands on Fort Lewis - commissary and PX - then will visit the only hands-on children's museum on a military instillation. On the way home we might stop at the climbing gym.

I gave up on the first shot glass I turned, but did two more, yesterday. These are made from cherry scraps lying around the shop. I sealed the end grain on the bottom with thin CA glue. I'm giving them to my son to test them out. If he likes them, I might turn a bunch to sell at the holiday bazaar in November.

    Good Morning

Dave, those cherry wood scraps are beautiful.

I had a busy morning here. I awoke early and finished clearing the area around the the recliner I am recovering in so the new Lazy Boy could be delivered this first thing this morning. The call came an hour earlier than they said, no one responded to my texts so I just took care of it. I had the old one for over 20 years but the stuffing was dead and the cover getting worn. The new one is extra firm so it feels a lot different. Morning exercise is done including the noisy knee range of motion torture. But part of it is mentally setting yourself for those moments, breathing through the flex and holding, pushing a little further, breathing and then push yet a bit more. After 3x I am pretty well wiped out but then its ice and elevation and really the pain is forgotten. A lot of pain management is mental adjustment and acceptance. I seem to be doing OK on half doses of Percocet now. Not much planned today. Maybe I will try and get Heather to take me to lunch.
