    Missed checking in yesterday...

Steve, sounds like you need to do something, either way. Hard choices... praying for you.

Rain washed away a lot of the nice snow we had, but up to 11" coming tonight and tomorrow, with 40 mph winds, a nor'easter. DB in mid-NH is already buried, and even more is coming there.

I got wrapped up in troubleshooting the piano class's piano yesterday--two notes go "thunk" instead of ringing out, people complain every week. Delved into the mathematics of wire tension, steel string inharmonicity, even developed a project plan for doing the repair on some free project management software I found. Retired and living alone you wander down some rabbit holes...

    Time to brew the coffee.

    Good morning!

Thank you guys for the kind words. I am going to pray on the situation over the weekend.

I am going to try to get a blood test again this morning since I have a doctor visit scheduled for Tuesday. I am tempted to just move it all out until I have the year closed at work, but I don't want to run out of blood pressure meds and not be able to get them renewed.

I did get my treadmill fixed yesterday. That is great! I walked half a mile on it last night just to get started again. My last previous walk on the treadmill was December 12. It took way too long for the warranty repair. The plus, however, is that the whole thing only cost me time and fitness. No money exchanged hands.

We dodged a bullet with snow. It is 36 degrees and just wet. Whew!

    Have a great day!

For each 12-month period you delay enrollment in Medicare Part B, you will have to pay a 10% Part B premium penalty, unless you have insurance based on your or your spouse’s current work (job-based insurance) or are eligible for a Medicare Savings Program (MSP).

Connie is fully covered under my health insurance. The company pays 100% of our premium. That was the deal when i was hired, and a reason that I started with a lower salary than I initially wanted. The monthly premium the company pays for us is about $1700 per month. That is a lot of money and the primary reason that I am sticking around with work. I don't qualify for Medicare yet. Could we do it if we had to? Yes. It is primarily a life style choice.

I feel comfortable that if the company implodes, I could retire if I had to right now. That is a safety net of sorts. I could also take other work for a couple of years, or take a less stressful job like working at Lowe's or something. These are some of the things that we are considering. Having this backup makes it more possible to ride it out longer where I am now. Our house will be paid off at the end of this year. Her car is paid off, and mine will be in another year. We do have choices.

    Good morning gentlemen.

I find your rabbit holes to be fascinating, Mike.

It stands to reason that the senior accountant among us would have covered all the ins and outs of the Medicare thing, Steve.

I almost finished my drawer-building workbench project. I needed to glue up one last drawer front. I'll install that this morning and I can fill the drawers and see how much difference they make in the shop clutter.

Hope all have a pleasant Friday.

    Good Morning,
    Being lazy today, nothing planned.
Cloudy and 70's rain this afternoon
Bill, hope you are feeling better today
I'm seeing a good many who are struggling to find satisfaction in their job, some have been in job so long there is no challenge; others are burdened with more than they can handle and some have their hands tied yet expected to get results as if all was normal.

    Good Morning

Steve, I am glad you seem to have found a bit more peace in your situation. We did pray for you in our Northumbria Morning Prayer Group. These decisions are never easy and insurance is often a critical factor. We actually saved money when we moved to Medicare A&B along with the 2 supplemental coverages.

Slept well last night, only waking once. I like it! PT yesterday was some assesment, some gentle message and going over the exercises. I have to do the exercises upstairs on the bed though. But I am pretty good going up the stairs with the cane and we have a good system set up so I can get around both floors if necessary. Nothing today except more exciting resting with icing and multiple breaks for exercise. I have started reading again which makes me happy. I have had trouble keeping focused on what I am reading between general discomfort and pain meds haze these past 4 months. My son recommended I try to borrow audiobook from the library to listen to as I read. I blew through 5 chapters yesterday afternoon before switching to the Warriors game on radio. I am getting ready to restart my studies as a Noviate in the Northumbria Community. That involves reading, reflection and journaling. I suspended it 4 months ago. It feels great to finally be moving forward again in life.

I finished up my shop drawer project. Pretty sloppy work, really. I haven't done anything like that for a long time, and I kind of rushed through it. But, it's shop furniture so, what the heck, right? My qork bench was built from construction-grade 2X8s laminated together. The top is three layers of 3/4 inch oak plywood, with solid oak around the edge. The oak came from a sign in the headquarters building on Fort Lewis. They were going to throw this huge display sign in the dumpster, so I salvaged it and took it home. The frame was solid oak, the field oak plywood. The bench weighs about 350 lbs. Really solid, and has held up through a lot of projects.

I like that bench! The drawers are a cool idea. I have a bench that is open underneath, and it is just wasted space.
