    The Difference Between Priorities and Goals

    Sometimes I struggle to be sure I am focusing on the right things. Most days, it's hard for me to fit everything in. I work full-time, plus my mom lives with Hubs and I (and needs some care) And while Hubs helps around the house, I do most of the cooking. Plus Spring brings more outside work, like gardening.

    On a given day, it's easy enough to let something slip as far as Tracking or Exercise.

    But, I found this article an interesting and helpful way to categorize all my daily tasks and prioritize those most important to me. Thought I'd share ...

    i like catherine - she has some great ideas.

    My priority should be exercise, but it always seems to be the first to fall from my list! Need to work on it.

    My priority is sticking to the habits which helped me reach maintenance. Permanent changes need to be sustained.

    My priority each day is to make sure to take time for myself, to exercise and track my food. Perhaps someday I may to modify parts of my day but I think I can find other areas to reduce my health is most important.

    Walked today an unheard of sudden blast of heat it was a struggle to get the lunch time walk down but made it tracked and logged.

    Goals? Hmm, at 72, retired, family grown and independent, I don’t have many goals apart from my own health and wellbeing. My mum is 93 and still living independently apart from a cleaner once a week and more recently a carer once a week. So, that could be my goal?
    My priorities are good nutrition, exercise, activities that support my mental and emotional health.

    Have the grandsons for a couple days and they wanted to go to the buffet yesterday after going to see Super Marios Bros at the theatre. No popcorn at the theatre and only one small plate of food at the buffet. In preparation for going to the buffet I had saved 2/3rds of my calories for the day and had to estimate most of what I ate there but I think I still did ok. I'm sure the sodium was off the charts, however, so tried to drink plenty of water.

    At this point in my life, being retired, my goals are pretty simple. I'm getting my weight under control by losing 70 lbs so far with another 20 lbs to go. I'm improving my health to avoid some weight related issues that plagued my mom and some of my siblings. A1C and cholesterol are both back in the normal range and BP is good. My other main goal is enjoying life and time with my family. Making memories with my grandsons. Once my husband retires, hopefully next year, I would like to travel more.
