    Rise and shine out there...

40º at dawn, up to 70º today and mid-80's later in the week. I should pack my camping gear but the state park campgrounds are not even open for the season yet till Memorial day. Bible study this morning. Will later check bridge on piano at senior center afterward to assess how to glue the loose end back onto the soundboard, which I think is the root cause of "THUNK" sound on two notes. This is like a whodunnit for me... won't quite till I fix the d@mn thing.

Have 3 GKs graduating from HS or college, plus DS and DD getting masters, all in the same month. Proud papa here--I was the first and only in extended family to go to college, and only the second to even finish high school.

Never got off the couch much yesterday, dozing & catching up on some lost sleep I think.

    Mornin' gents.

Congrats on the amazing genetics and all the potential future generations, Mike. Good stuff.
I can see a new HBO series called The Chord, loosely based on the piano detective/mechanic Mike from Mass, a real who"thunk"it.

    Be OP ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

OK, you made me groan, Lee.

You and my wife have a lot in common, Mike. She was the first in her family to graduate high school, then worked her way through college. Now, her family is full of doctors, nurses, engineers and attorneys. You guys are like pioneers, showing the way.

More cold rain today. I need to get the car serviced, this morning, then I'll probably fool around in the shop.

    Good Morning

What a story Mike, of you and now the following generations achieving academic success and not to mention the young piano players you have enabled. I imagine it is one of those time you can step back at a family gathering and feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude for this goodness in your life. Personally when it comes to the "Case of The Persistent Thunk" my money is on you. You need a YouTube Page chronicling your adventures in repairing stuff and making it like new.

An extremely unproductive day yesterday. I came downstairs to grab my phone before exercising in the early afternoon. I felt pretty tired and the back was not great so I sat down to rest and zoned out. Then I moved to the coach and slept on and off for a couple hours. I did get back upstairs to exercise and got session 2 in before bed. My reward was to wake up at 3:30 with only the usual stiffness. I did eventually sneak in another hour downstairs. I am off for my final PT visit. I have been very please with my PT. She has really taught me a lot in this journey and was good enough to address some of my back issues in my workout with extra stretches and adjustments. I want to discuss starting to walk & how, when to loose the cane, etc. Today I will need to crack on with the deduction side of taxes, though I doubt I will be able to itemize. I paid property tax yesterday so I am already feeling taxed.

Congrats Mike on your education and your kids. An inspiration indeed!!!

I come from a line of at least 5 or 6 generations of school teachers. I taught medical residents in the Ophthalmology Dept. My daughter is simply the best teacher at the International School. We have valued education for a long time indeed. My grandmother taught in a round one room school house in Missouri which I have seen.
    back later.

    Good afternoon!

Mike, congratulations! That is an amazing accomplishment! You are an inspiration to your family, I'm sure. I hope that you also get the thunk thunked out. Sometimes it is just the "you won't get the best of me" spirit that finds the root cause and fixes it. Cool stuff.

Work has worn me out today. I'm quite sure that one of the two feuding ladies will not make it past noon tomorrow. My passive boss said that he would step in. I'm sure that won't happen. I will set them both down tomorrow and explain how it has to stop or both of them will be written up. My guess is that the protagonist here will be resigning. I hate to lose her, but we cannot continue like this.

On the job front, I have an interview tomorrow! Also, Connie went to her counselor yesterday. He told her "why doesn't Steve just retire?" Now imagine that. I thought that was off the table until I was at least 65 because of money. Because he suggested it, she wants me to work up the numbers to see if we can let me retire now. Meanwhile, I have this job interview tomorrow. At least I have options! Once I'm in the interview, even though I am qualified, they may not want to hire an old man like me. On the other hand, I have decades of hands on training as well as book training. We'll see. This one is for a senior cost accountant position for plants in Kansas City, Bakersfield CA, and Hamlet NC. It would involve some travel.

    Have a great evening!
