42º this morning. What a change in the weather. Spent all day yesterday installing magnetic pool gate lock for DD. Leaning, twisted fence post, gibberish product instructions, backtracking after I made mistakes, crawling around looking in gravel for a lost adjustment screw... fun project. Never found the screw. And there's still a second gate that also needs a latch.

Looking forward to camping. I'll bring a book and maybe my backpacking guitar, but mostly I like the change of pace, focusing just on the immediate tasks of life in the wilderness--making meals, keeping a fire, exploring the trails and paddling the two lakes. (Swatting mosquitoes.) The lake connects via a stream to another one, both surrounded by mountains. No phone or internet--I'll be offline for the week+. I hope it warms up by Wednesday.

Bill, sounds like you're getting close to finishing the prep-work for moving.

    Good morning gentlemen.

Mike, your screw-in-the-gravel quest made me laugh. I have had countless times I have lost small parts in the shavings under my lathe. The shavings end up as mulch in the flower beds and many times Rita has discovered screws, even drill bits.

Another day of chain sawing and dragging limbs on the churchy property, yesterday. The big chipper we rented was up to the task and, after five hours work, six of us turned three huge piles of brush and limbs into about six cubic yards of chips. I was really beat.

Church, this morning, then some shop time - roughing the first bowl from some of this week's wood.

    Good Morning

Mike, sounds like the gate latch installation will only help you appreciate your time away camping.

We had a new dryer delivered yesterday. We were one of the last deliveries and upon arrival were informed that they apparently somehow hadn't loaded enough semi flexible vents on the truck. We discussed and they installed it with the very old vent tube I had and will schedule to come back in a week to finish. Packing books on was a study in dust. We are well behind our packing but will push on. My wife is packing her craft room which is a challenge in itself. Today we head into SF this afternoon to The Performing Arts Center complex to hear "Songs of Truth: Holocaust. Its music by composers who died in the camps along with discussion. A member of my High School Class is involved. Then back home to continue with packing. We used to go to SF all the time. Now its rarely.
