Morning.
Busy day yesterday. Oil changed then car wash then a 3-hour tour of an antique piano collection with a short performance at each one. Quite wonderful. And then fishing from a canoe with DS. As usual he caught a bunch of fish and I caught weeds and tree branches.
DS says he’s healed his bad back by diet and exercise, especially core strengthening. After years of on and off suffering and rounds of unsuccessful cortisone shots. I was glad to see him looking well again.
A lazy Sunday here
Have a good one everyone.0 -
Great to hear your DS solved his back problem with weight management and core strengthening, Mike.
Is Kitty mad at you today, Steve?
4 hr drive to VT for 4 hours of dog training with a great group of people, then 4 hrs back home in time for dinner with DW. Long day, but great training. As good as it was, I won't make it a weekly habit because leaving the house at 5am was a bit of a hardship for this old fart.
I saw on FB that you and your DS find him a bit of snow to make a few curves into, Dave. Somehow I missed that you experience some asthma at high altitudes. Glad you have an antidote.
When I got home last night from VTaround 6 pm, I couldn't believe how hot and muggy it was at home (I had my truck's auto climate control set at 68 degrees). It was 86 degrees in the house. By 8 pm we had some light rain but lots of thunder. We subsequently had multiple thunderstorm cells pass over during the night, lighting things up outside like it was midday. Also a fair amount of rain. Much cooler and dryer this am. I might actually get some things done.

Good morning gentlemen.
Had a wonderful time hiking with my DS, yesterday. We hiked up through forest, meadows and into rock and glaciers. He found a couple remaining snow fields and managed four ski runs, so he "carved his turns" for the month of August. I really slowed him down on the trail. I haven't hiked much, this year, and I am not in good hiking shape. The altitude affects me more, with age, too. This one went up to about 6.500 feet. I did remember to use my albuterol before we started and that seemed to help. I had very few asthma symptoms, and no carry over today. In all I covered 10 miles, with 2,200 feet of climbing.1 -
Good morning!
Mike, I'm glad that you had a fun day. I too have pretty much given up on fishing as I don't catch anything. I'd rather just paddle around.
Dave, sounds like you had a great hike.
Lee, the cat is fine. She had a shot and fecal exam. She is 12 or 13 years old and is doing well.
We were not able to see any meteors last night too cloudy. We drove to Leavenworth to try to get out of the clouds, but that was a bust. Oh well. It was not a great "date night" as we were driving around trying to get a break in the clouds and light. But, we tried.
Have a great day!0 -
Yup suppose to heat up here in PDX today around 100deg and 104deg tomorrow. Got out for early ride.
Saw glaucoma doc on Friday and had a trabeculoplasty laser done to help with eye pressure (IOP).
Glad Dave had good hike on Mt Rainier and his son got in some skiing. My son does that sort of thing too.
Stay cool and as comfy as possible all!0 -
Good Morning
Dave, you may not be in 'Dave' shape for hiking, but 10 miles and 2200 feet on glacial terrain isn't exactly a stroll in the park.
Heating up here as well. It was 65already at 6am. So I skipped getting out for a walk once my back loosened up and will take a day off from most exercise except stretching. My back is degrading again so a day off can't hurt since walking can aggravate it right now and the nerve pain was nasty yesterday. I am not sure about the day. I was thinking the movies but I would rather not go on the weekend so we can enjoy a nice lunch too without crazy crowds. Plenty more laundry to catch up on and I should finish up the last bit of packing in the living room and reorganize again. My dulcimer is still waiting to be tuned. That can aggravate my back too.0 -
Been churched; second Sunday as new church; building packed again every chair filled and folks standing around walls. Still do not have a minister God has provided, last week a seminary student, this week an assistant pastor from church in North Georgia.
Neck and shoulder still bothersome but hip is much better.
Continues HOT & HUMID here.

Our cat gets vetted at home, obviously, but she hates getting put in a carrier and traveling in car. Even short distances. All our cats have been that way. I always marvel at the cats that come into the practice acting social and basically nonplussed. Guess you have one of those, Steve.
So cool what the ophtho can do in the office these days. Assuming all is well, Bob?
Yeah, that is a pretty good hike by any measure, Dave. How do you feel today?
